[In a thread about the earthquake in Japan]
I am baffled as to why we haven't had a bad earthquake on our west coast yet. We're certainly overdue in more ways than one. It would not surprise me if we're next, considiering our government's treatment of Israel, AND all the blatant in-your-face sin in our country.

You mean like how we're sending them billions in aid and military resources every year?

I guess your god's destructive power has not been very effective against our sin.
First: Earthquakes do not work this way.
Second: "Sin" has nothing to do with earthquakes. Earthquakes are caused by shifting tectonic plates.
Third: Even in the extremely improbable case that the fundie god is real, and he really punishes allegedly "sinful" nations by sending earthquakes, why are the scandinavian countries (which are the most atheistic, most supporting of homosexuality, most 'liberal' economic system etc...) among the most earthquake-free nations in the world? (Well, the answer is easy: They are located in a geologically very inactive region, and the fundie 'God' does not exist. Thats all.)
Raptards love two things:
1. God
2. The misery of others
Not necessarily in that order.
At least he said West Coast, since there is in fact a fault line there. However, the fact that he would immediately attribute such an earthquake to sin proves that he does not understand one thing about geology and must have slept through the entire class back in middle school. Yeah, I learned that earthquakes have a natural cause in middle school. Shouldn't he have done the same?
But also, I have a couple friends on the West Coast. I can't believe that this guy is anticipating the notion of a serious earthquake there, as if it were a good thing! Especially because his "justifications" mean diddly-squat! (I cannot think of one country that is more consistently allied with Israel than the United States and the existence of non-Christians and gays is not "blatant in-your-face sin".)
Mmmm yes, just think about all the suffering an M9 quake and possible tsunami would cause. Thousands dead, more displaced and injured....fapworthy indeed.
Even pretending momentarily to think like a Raptard makes me feel dirty.
Oh for fucks sake! How fucking stupid can you Ameri8cans get?
Whatever humans do to each other, it has not fucking effect on fault lines you imbecile retarded stupid mental midgets!
The United States isn't treating Israel nicely? Seriously? The last time I looked at the stats, it was estimated that we've given them well over $100 billion. We're also continuing to give them more money every single year. How terrible of us to give them billions upon billions of dollars in free money!
Guess all the pious and faithful live here in Scandinavia then, while New Orleans and Italy are full of atheist sinners.
Your government's treatment of Israel? It's treated like a beloved and spoiled child. Not unlike the treatment by Mr and Mrs Dursley of their son Dudley in Harry Potter-verse, as a matter of fact.
Whatever Israel does, the US is there to defend and support it, against people/countries who think Israel should take responsibility for its actions.
"On our west coast"
So you are admitting that there are natural causes for earthquakes, being, for instance, the geologic faults on our west coast?
"considiering our government's treatment of Israel, AND all the blatant in-your-face sin in our country."
Or are you saying quakes are punishment from you deity? If so, curious that you believe your god would only punish the west coast. Is the east coast sinless?
And there we have it, folks. The fundies are so terrified of their precious, bloodthirsty, God that they are convinced He will kill them, and send them to Hell, for the actions of others.
How about this blatant and prominant middle finger I am holding up just inches from your face?
Yes, that is a booger on the end of it. Consider it a kindred spirit.
By the way..you are a completely fucked in the head idiot. You dont know shit about how this planet works, and have to resort to magical thinking and expect ME to respect that?
Im so tired of shit like this.
FUCKING GET AN EDUCATION YOU DUMB CUNT!
The great San Francisco quake wasn't that long ago,in geologic time. The big Alaskan quake was mere seconds ago.
So what if the next big quake was the New Madrid fault in the Protestant heartland, instead of on the evil coast? Yep, God will keep smitin', group by group, until the last surviving sect will have the honor of calling themselves true Christians. Sort of like lethal musical chairs.
It would not surprise me if we're next, considiering our government's treatment of Israel...
Is this person referring to the fact that "we" allow the anti-Isreali countries to also exist? Then again, I'm not that familiar with recent Isreali politics, so they may be referring to some Palestinian activity that I haven't been paying attention to yet?
Also, arctic knight , where did you get those references from, may I ask? I'm not impugning them, I'm just curious if they are freely available online from, say, a California university instead of "just" Wikipedia. I've heard the "overdue" argument as well; then again, I'm from the Seattle area which supposedly actually is overdue for a "big" earthquake...but seeing as how I only took one geology course about ten years ago, I freely admit to being possibly wrong about that.
So considering our nations treatment of israel or especially jews in history... there should be tornados and earthquakes and all that.
But somehow our friends in the USA and Japan have to suffer for that... but hey, your god sent his son for our sins so why should he punish those at fault this time? ;)
@German: Why, it's almost as if hurricanes and tornadoes were purely random events to which certain regions of the planet were subject due to completely natural factors, such as proximity to oceans or a tendency to generate massive thunderstorms.
Given the number of quakes recently (within 3 years or so) around the pacific plate, it wouldn't surprise me if there was a significant earthquake near the west cost of America. Of course most of the recent pacific place quakes seem to have been happening on the Asian side of the plate so who knows. (I suppose a geologist / seismologist would know, but not being either of those I dont.)
I'm baffled about how anybody with the IQ of a sheep could think earthquakes are in any way remotely connected to Israel and/or the fictitious concept of sin.
Then again, who says fundies have the IQ of a sheep?
@dionysus - Too true.
By the way, I'm still waiting for a fundie "explanation" of what a completely innocuous country like New Zealand did to "deserve" a big quake. Maybe that was also intended for California and god's aim is so bad that he hit the wrong continent and even the wrong hemisphere? At least with Japan he got the hemisphere right, so his aim is improving.
"I am baffled as to why we haven't had a bad earthquake on our west coast yet. "
You have, several times.
"We're certainly overdue in more ways than one.
That says some worrying things about your mentality.
"It would not surprise me if we're next, considiering our government's treatment of Israel, AND all the blatant in-your-face sin in our country.
1) Learn about plate tectonics, any primary school level science text will do.
2) Your government is usually very accomodating (some would say too accomodating) to Israel and Obama hasn't changed that at all.
3) If "sin" was the motivational factor for earthquakes, wouldn't the Netherlands be subject to more 'quakes?
4)Your God has crap aim.
Confused?
