So, if you can't tell by my signature I am a brony.
For those of you who don't know a brony is a male (or female) who is outside the targeted age group (11+) who enjoy the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. Yes, it sounds weird but don't knock it till ya try it. There's about 10 mil of us.
Anyways, I was confronted today by an atheist who told me that MLP is satanic. I asked him to elaborate and he tells me that the show is satanic because it supports "magic".
Now, we all know God is against magic, correct? But here's the thing - the magic God refers to is witchcraft. Not the magic that can come out of a unicorn's horn. Evidently, he's not getting that saying that magic is magic and there's no way around it. So, I was wondering what you fellow Christians have to say on his opinion.

That does not sound like something an Atheist would do. They don't see something as "satanic" if it has magic in it. That is a Christian thing to do. A fundie Christian thing.
Anyway it's fiction, it's fake, it's good fun. There are no demons in mlp (except Tirak) and your soul is not in danger for watching it. Enjoy the show and Celestia have mercy on your soul.
Magic is science there. They may as well be complaining about the (measurable, demonstrable) Force in Star Wars.
What really bakes my noodle is that in MLP, if certain suppositions are right, we all adore a communal demiurge. Celestia and Luna not only sculpted the physical world but the remain "public workers" who oversee their cosmic and political bureaucracy. The true creator who can create de novo and ex nihilo is Discord... a reformed bad guy. Friendship is magic indeed. And counter-Gnostic.
Personally, I think Christians are quite comfortable with magic. The Bible documents several times where God, Moses, and Jesus all cast magic at various points.
@Gabriel LaVedier:
So friendship is magic but since magic is science this makes science of it all, this little prototherian might just take a second look at the show... A science of friendship, fascinating! :)
The atheist was probably being sarcastic as a means of challenging your views over magic, for, if it is condemned in other instances outside the Bible, why should it be seen as acceptable within a cartoon? This is especially true when your kind rally against fictional fantasy for promoting magic. What makes that different to the fictional magic in your favourite show?
You are only outraged by mysticism when it appears in media that you don't like. When it appears in your favourite show you'll twist your logic into accepting it as God approved. It's funny how God's will is always in line with your beliefs, isn't it?
I'm no psychologist, but I do know that people often ascribe abhorrent beliefs to people or groups that they don't like in order to justify why they don't like them.
An atheist told you MLP was satanic? Really?
Why would an atheist say that? We don't believe in Satan, either?
How do you know that the magic God refers to is witchcraft and not what comes out of a unicorns horn?
What does come out of a unicorn's horn?
Evidently you don't get the saying that magic is magic either.
Are there many Christian bronies?
Yes, it sounds weird but don't knock it till ya try it.
Like I said in another thread, I don't see the attraction of this cartoon to adult men.

Bullshit. We atheists don't believe in Satan, either. I find it very hard to believe that an atheist thinks something is Satanic because it has depictions of magic. That's more along the lines of fundie Christian thinking. Either he wasn't an atheist or you're lying.
Dear gods, people. Why is it so hard to believe an atheist told a Christian that MLP is satanic?
Here's how it happened:
Little Light: "I like My Little Pony."
unnamed atheist: "But it has magic in it."
LL: "So?"
ua: "Doesn't your bible say that magic is satanic?"
LL: "Silly atheist. The bible doesn't mean what it says, except when it does. You need to take it figuratively, except the parts that are literal."
Wouldn't an atheist not believe in Satan? I sense the 'shellfish' argument...
As to magic being, well, not OK, I'd say I disagree (especially given some translation errors that have occurred). Then again, pretty sure I'm not the Christian to ask, given the whole 'practicing magic' thing. Plus, not a brony (Just not my thing. Almost watched when I found out John De Lancie was Discord, though).

Wait...an atheists that believes in Satan and magic? What are you smokin' dude?

An Atheist will not tell you somethings Satanic unless the symbolism relates.
Like Christian Bikers displaying pentagrams, leathered wings and horned skull imagery. (which Harley idiots do)
MLP is current CHILDRENS imagery, like newer fairy tales. Atheist do not call things pagan or mythical Satanic. ONLY CHRISTIANS PLAY THAT GAME.
“But here's the thing - the magic God refers to is witchcraft. Not the magic that can come out of a unicorn's horn.”
Generally, the fundie view is that all ‘magic’ that’s not sourced by God himself is from Satan. That would be Unicorn magic, witch magic, Papa Smurf, Gargamel, Ouija board, D&D wizards, druids, false gods, the Force, Samantha, Jeanie, witch doctor, shaman, and pulling a rabbit out of the hat.
Atheists tend to think all magic is fiction, though, So satan’s magic is discrete from God’s magic, and both are distinct from MLP’s, or Star Wars’, or Dresden’s. The story seems like a made-up anecdote to start a discussion among the bible thumpers.
Confused?
