“The baby is as much a human being before it is born as after. No woman should have the "right" to kill another person just for her own convenience.”
How about self defense? I can kill another human being who threatens my life or even grievous bodily harm, no matter how human they are.
Women die in childbirth. Even women who want the baby have died from being pregnant or from giving birth. So, if you would shoot a guy robbing you at gunpoint, you must allow abortion. If you’re in a Stand Your Ground state, you have no valid opinion.
“Sorry, but if you insist on making it "safe", all you are doing is removing the deterrent.”
Sorry but if it is a RIGHT, then there should be no deterrent.
“If there was a 95% chance that having a abortion would kill or maim you, how many people would risk having one?”
Doesn’t make it any less of a right for the woman to make that choice. You’re just being misogynist for Gawd.
“Sorry if that sounds harsh,”
No, it sounds sexist and unworkable. And intentionally making any medical procedure dangerous is beyond fucking contempt. It’s like if you have a right to smoke, I don’t like smoke, i force tobacco companies to impregnate the filters with strychnine.
“but abortion is even harsher on the baby, who has no choice in the matter, unlike the woman.”
And we’re back to the robbery. Would you shoot a robber? He’s not giving you much of a choice, it’s kill or be killed. Do you value the robber’s life, and his choice to threaten you, more than you value your own life? Would you choose to die rather than take a life?
