There are two Greek words used in the New Testament for love: agape and phileo. Very simply expressed: agape is God loving us because of WHO HE IS; whereas, phileo is God loving us because of WHO WE ARE. So, obviously, God does not phileo unrepentant sinners, but He does agape them! And we ought do the same! I agape everyone, because of WHO I AM; but I phileo certain people that I am fond of, because of WHO THEY ARE. God does not phileo the soul that He casts into Hell, but He still agapes them.
