Clarence-
That is fine, because I know you are an agnostic/atheist. Christians must defend truth though, so Christian men must treat women like they are inferiors. That means chauvnism..either the polite kind or the no-so-polite kind.. But egalitarianism is not an option.
She may have many lofty qualities that are on par with some men in the same area, but she must be thought of as talented “for a woman”.
Status is not based on merit but on the ontological reality.

So, rather than even beat around the bush with the "equal but different/complementary" spiel that usually is used by your lot, you're going straight to "women are inferior."
I almost feel like I should thank you for your honesty, jackass.
Christians must defend truth though, so Christian men must treat women like they are inferiors.
So in order to protect this "truth," Christians have to act like assholes?
Explains a lot, really.
Behold, how moral these Christians are.
Morticia's head would explode if she found out there was some evidence that Jesus had female apostles on par with the famous 12.
Mmhm. And people say atheists are the unethical ones. A man can do a lot of things that are talented "for a man," too.
Another gem from them: "If you treat a woman like an equal you encouraging her disordered mentality. Its like treating gays like they are married because they think they are. They are not and should not be treated like they are."
"Christians must defend truth though,"
Truth such as 4-legged insects, pi=3, and being sent to eternal torture by a god who loves you?
"so Christian men must treat women like they are inferiors."
So, you contend the truth is that women are inferior to men. STFU, a$$hole.
Christian men must treat women like they are inferiors
Yes, keep it up. Keep treating women like they're worthless. In 50 years when Christianity in nearly extinct you'll be shaking your head wondering what happened.
Why does this person even call themselves "Morticia"? The Addams Family was pretty Counter-Culture-friendly and, if anything, Morticia & Gomez were complete equals (at times, SHE seemed to be 'head' or 'down-to-earth/reasonable' one, particularly when Gomez was getting too goofy) & Gomez practically WORSHIPED her!
It's like that other jerk, 'Umma Gumma'. What's with these NeoCon reactionaries & their use of user-names from Progressive-friendly sources? Either it's irony or they're just plain stupid.
@Adrian
I'm wondering the same, Adrian.
(I removed the quote marks from your name. I'm sorry. Don't take it personally.)
FundieTruth: everything you need to know was known by Bronze and Iron-age clerics that made pronouncements that sounded like fortune cookies when they spoke.
Ontology: the philosophical study of the nature of being, existence, or reality, as well as the basic categories of being and their relations.
Epistemology: the branch of philosophy concerned with the nature and scope of knowledge. It questions what knowledge is, how it is acquired, and the possible extent a given subject or entity can be known.
Superstition: a belief in supernatural causality: that one event leads to the cause of another without any physical process linking the two events, such as astrology, omens, witchcraft, etc., that contradicts natural science.

Guess which one best describes your Biblical "truth?"
Certainly, that's when a faith in the correctness of weird beliefs is unable to be distinguished from mental illness. Also, ones natural inclinations can so effortlessly seem to coincide with the peculiar needs of an invisible sky king.
O for the days when mothers and daughters were less important than camels. Until the Cloud Commander gets new invisible sandals without a trace of invisible goat shit on them then mankind is doomed to sanity and modernity.
Your name is "Morticia"?
As in, the wife from the Addams Family?
I'm calling Poe on this one. No True Christian [TM] would name herself after an undead harlot.
Emmy Noether, who proved why energy and momentum are conserved, would be disappointed in Morticia.

It means, it's irrelevant what you're capable of or what redeeming qualities you may have, you are what you are and there's no changing that.
She/He is saying that regardless of what some one woman may achieve, she's still a woman and therefore inherently inferior.
It's like back when Sammy Davis Jr. was invited to perform on stage at a hotel with the Rat Pack, but he couldn't have a room at that same hotel because he was a "dirty nigger".
Morticia would probably expect Barack Obama, the President of the United States, to use the delivery entrance to almost anywhere, including the White House, for the same reason.
In his/her opinion "woman" (and probably "black") is an ontological reality that can't be washed off, neither by soap nor by merit.
@SpukiKitty : wondering if I'm a guy, you mean? I am one, but I never claimed otherwise: I'm French, and in French Adrian is a (somewhat uncommon) male name. The female version would be Adrienne (which is how Rocky's wife was called in the French dub)
To those who are wondering if this is a GIRL or a Poe...she's the real deal. She's a catholic, I'm afraid, and an elitist catholic at that. Not only does she believe catholicism to be the superior form of christianity, she fully buys into the typical christian view of women.
It's truly disheartening. I pity her.
@Anon
@checkmate :
So anything that people might do or say is irrelevant to Morticia's opinions of them?
That's discouraging.
But think about it from her POV: If her status is predetermined by her gender, she does not have to work to keep or improve that status
Also, she doesn’t need to get to know other people (and maybe learn new things and POVs, *shudder*) to judge their “worth”. So much less work!
@Adrian
No. I put little quote things around all screen name. I don't doubt you're a man. You're cool. I respect you.
I'll remove them & cease using them when speaking of a FSTDT member, troll or OP.
I'm sorry. Forgive me.
It's like the plot of the Addams Family movie, only it's Mortica, rather than Fester, who's the impostor.
@SpukiKitty : no problem, don't worry. I wasn't offended, just a bit unsure if I was understanding you correctly. You're cool too, you're one of my favourite posters, with Papabear, KittyKaboom, JES and of course Anon-e-moose ^^
@KittyKaboom: oy vey! >_< Well, I suppose this means we have a winner for the Fundie Stockholm Syndrome award for the month...

Damn! I don't know if I should call that an extremely pernicious form of fatalism, or a scandalous form of laziness... Well, it can be both, I suppose.
There are people who have minds like a steel trap, Morticia worked at making hers like a brick wall...
I would expect these sort of horrid statements to be made by a fundamentalist 12 year old who can't get a girlfriend, but not by any sort of thinking woman.
Clearly religion has poisoned your mind. Christopher Hitchens was right.
@Adrian

Sort of a female fundie version of the protagonist of Pink Floyd's The Wall .
I'd doubt that even a scary "Judge Arse" fantasy sequence would help her snap out of it, though.
(That said, I prefer early "Piper to Meddle/Pompeii " Floyd...but that's irrelevant to my point.)
Well, if that woman has qualities equal or superior to men, it invalidates your argument, and that's the ontological reality.
> Christians must defend truth though
> But egalitarianism is not an option.
I see you aren't a Christian then, because you aren't defending the truth. That is, the painfully obvious truth that your gender has absolutely nothing to do with your worth as a human, and that chauvinism is for stupid dicks that need to DIAF.
When I think about religion being an evil used to justify and perpetuate other evils, this is the kind of shit I think about.
But maybe it's a good thing since we have things like more and more women leaving the Catholic church.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
