(An Air Force Officer that was a lesbian and gay rights activist was killed in Afghanistan. New York Times called it "a Tragic End to a Life Spent Seeking Dignity")
Is it really “dignity” when you have to use the power of the government to force people to pretend that they respect you? I had more respect for homosexuals when they had to live in the closet.

So, in fact, he has no respect, whatsoever for homosexuals. Too bad he is not an arsehole in a closet, at least, we would not have to suffer his idiocy.
"I thought people like this were pro millitary?"
Only when it's straight, white, and Christian.
You're using the power of the government right now, to protect you from people who'd love to fire you, deny you service, or even kick the shit out of you.
When a wingnut dies, I still try to show some respect and offer prayers for their families, even if said wingnut was a jerk (unless they're pure evil like the head Daesh guy or Ted Bundy. Even then, we still try to be tactful).
When someone hated by wingnuts die, the wingnuts get all douchey and dance on the deceased graves.
Same with horrible illnesses. When Jimmy Carter stated he had Cancer, the wingnuts made stupid insulting Cancer jokes rather than wishing Carter well (fortunately, it's in remission).
It never used to be this way. Back in the day, wingnuts at least tried to be cordial when a more progressive opponent got sick or croaked.
I mean, is it me or are today's wingnuts totally deranged? When I was growing up, wingnuts at least tried to put on the appearance of reasonableness and their stupider statements were dog-whistles and they tended to explain their goals as something more "humane-ish" or "less-oppressive-sounding".
Now, they just blab their darkest thoughts unfiltered, open and nakedly offensive and bigoted.
So how does "no respect at all" translate to "more respect"? Ah, I see, "they were just fine as long as I could pretend they didn't really exist."

The anonymity of the internet now allows them to speak all their darkest thoughts, when they are safely out of reach of the nearest acquaintance to nudge them back toward civilization with a baseball bat.
Meanwhile, in the Royal Air Force:

They have all the respect - and thus dignity - in the world.
The Ministry of Defence is lauded for it's Equal Opportunities policy: they'll take you, as long as you fit the basic height, education & health criteria.
The above certainly did. And then some; only the best of the best in our RAF get to fly our Eurofighter Typhoons.
Dignity comes with the territory, Joey-boy.

Gen. Chuck Yeager, USAF (Ret.) encourages women to take up aviation, and even enter the field of aeronautics. He would agree that his test pilot colleague Jacqueline Cochran has infinitely more dignity than you . I've never heard him so much as say word one about alternative lifestyles, male or female .
Dare to argue the toss with someone who has The Right Stuff, Joe?

...thought not.
A woman that wants dignity lives by the Christian Bible. And certainly no such woman is in the military--female officers are a disgrace and shame of our armed forces. A life with dignity for a decent woman consists of marriage, bearing children (1 Tim 2:15), guiding the house, and being a help meet for her husband. (Titus 2:4,5; Gen. 3:16; 1 Tim. 5:14,15)
There is no dignity in this woman's actions, belief, heart, or soul. (Rom. 1)

@Jerry
"All right guys I admit it. I'm a troll.
In the name of Satan,
Jerry"
Therefore anything you say is invalidated.
Also Gen. Chuck Yeager would like a word with you concerning what a woman should or shouldn't do. Care to prove him wrong?

...thought not II. Therefore your 'God' approves of women in the military, your 'Christian Bible' needs to be completely rewritten, and you've contradicted yourself.
This is the U.S.of A. You're entitled to you're abhorrent opinion, and sadly, you get one vote. I'm veteran myself. That woman was an Officer of the United States Air Force. And she paid the full price for our freedom. Show some respect, you dolt. Some just talk the talk, some walk the walk.
"Is it really “dignity” when you have to use the power of the government to force people to pretend that they respect you?"
There's a joke here about all the officers or something, but I can't find it.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
