Answer "NO" to the above they are not freedom of religions.....only Christan nations are. If you go to any nation that is not...to practice the Christan you have to do it in secert...are risk be putting to death. Here in the US you can practice any faith you want. I could be wrong, but isn't Buddhism rather the *opposite* of idol worship, seeing as how worshiping an idol would be attaching oneself to physical things, which Buddhists seek to *not do*?EXCEPT JESUS AS YOUR SAVIOR

I very much doubt they worship those statues. They contemplate the teachings of the buddha and define him as the goal they strive towards, the statue merely represents the buddha and certain traits about him as an aid to memory and concentration. If an aide-memoire in the form of a human being constitutes idol worship, then every medic out there is also guilty of it for owning or using things like model skeletons, diagrams in anatomy textbooks and those dismantlable chest cavity models and stuff. Other things that might qualify as idol worship under your somewhat broad implied definition (Evidently, "anything that resembles a person and is looked to for inspiration, recollection, etc") include the statues of the embodiment of justice that adorn some courthouses, the statue of liberty, television sets whenever somebody is onscreen, especially if they're no longer alive, and most coinage and banknotes featuring heads of state and great social contributors.
You know, the more I read this "America is a Christian nation" bullshit, the more I want to see proof. Oh, sure, the word "God" is on our money, and some courthouses, and plenty of other nonsense, but I don't see "Jesus" anywhere.
In Lebanon there are as many Churches as mosques, there are Christians in India and Thailand who think otherwise, what on earth are you saying?. And just answer a question, are you in favour of freedom of religion, yes no?, because, in your statements you seem very hypocritical.
