I'll admit I know little about Buddhism, but I'm pretty sure they don't have the same concept of "sin" as you do. As I understand it, the cycle of rebirth is to allow you to learn how to be a decent person and achieve nirvana. It's not a punishment, it's a teaching tool which, by my estimate, would be a far more effective and far less cruel way of doing things than tossing everyone into Hell for all eternity after one try because they didn't kiss Gawd's ass enough the first time.

Nirvana, by the way, is not a "void." Apparently it's "oneness" with all of Creation, including god which, again, sounds like a hell of a lot better deal than simply getting to be the cheerleading squad for some petty little thing like your god for all eternity.
