I look at revelations as a love letter to us, warning us, that one last chance. It's free will, if you chose to act or not. If you chose to disobey and not accept the father here's the alternative. No different than what we do with our own children.

Really, you take drugs and tell them horror stories about your trip?
Wow, that's some great parenting you've got going there.
Dear son,
I've taken time out of my schedule today to remind you that you have to clean your room, do your homework, and set the table for dinner. It is very important that you do these things, or else I will have to peel your skin off with a potato peeler, and shower you in vinegar. Then I will have no choice than to put your delicate fingers in the dresser drawer, and slam it shut repeatedly. Then I will be forced to take you down to the basement, and burn you with a blow torch for a few hours. Then I will be absolutely forced to play Celine Dion on the stereo while you are strapped down, forced to listen. Then of course, you will die.
I'm sure you understand that I don't do these things because I want to, and I'm sure you also understand that it is not punishment, as punishment would have a corrective function. This I will have to do because I am forced to do so, for no reason in particular.
So please, clean your room, do your homework, and set the table, or else.
By the way, I love you so much. This is evident because I'm warning you that I'm going to do all these horrible things to you.
Love,
Psycho Dad.
Jesus promised his Second Coming while there were still alive some of those in the company in which he was speaking. Paul expected to be still alive for the return.... But in case you hadn't noticed, it's getting on for 2000 years since that promise was made, and all those people are dead. Looks like Jesus broke his promise.
On this basis, how can you fundamentalist people read any truth into your bibles? You have been lied to, no?
You people are so fucked up it's ridiculous. Do you no know that the Jim Jones people were just like you? Heavens Gate? David Koresh and his crazies? Most recently, Michael Travesser and his crazies?
You are such a waste of matter it is ridiculous. God obviously does create waste and he obviously does make mistakes. You are on this planet, right now. Live the life your god gave you and honor him by doing so. Wasting it is fucking insane and I would think the highest insult to the god you believe in.
Would it be better if you just let us all kill you; that way you can go out as martyrs, and we can just get you off our planet.
People, people! Maybe we're misinterpreting what topekaclark means by 'love letter'.
It could easily be a love letter couples who're into really freaky BDSM write.
Dear children,
Today I saw a fiery angel with teeth as long as knives and five wings. He spoke with the voice of thunder. He told me "Seven seals in Heaven, seven seals on Earth. When the time comes, you will see what has to be done."
He reached out a fiery hand and I grasped it tightly. Together we rose up into the air and I saw a vision of what would could hence.
"Look at the people on the ground, moving as they do. Look and be amazed." And among the people I saw some with heads like lions and some with heads like sheep while others had loins like antelope.
The angel and I went into the tallest building and passed each floor. "Look at the leader of men and look what will I come." And I looked and I saw that the man was in a newly pressed Armani suit. In one hand he held a phone with reception like a cheetah and in the other hand he held a a sword that constantly spat blood. He had three heads and on them sat the name "Ignorance Most Vile".
And the angel showed me the seven seals at the zoo. White and fluffy. And the angel said "Heed these warnings or the flesh of your kith and kin will be stripped from their bones in agony and they will be rolled in salt for all eternity."
Signed,
Dad
P.S. I hope I didn't make this message too opaque.
"I look at revelations as a love letter to us..."
That's because you and your lot have no idea what The Revelation was written for. For starters, "Revelation" is singular, no "s" on the end. To be fair, that's the least of your mistakes, lots of people make it.
What we call "The Revelation" is actually just one example of a sub-genre of 1st-2nd century literature. There were several examples of apocalyptic literature which did not make it into the bible. Note that "apocalypse" is Greek for "revelation."
Apocalyptic literature is NOT prophetic. It is intended to serve as inspirational material for communities suffering form oppression. By "oppression" I do not mean that they merely had to endure the presence of people and officials they disagreed with. I mean that they were excluded form public life, rejected by their families and in danger of being murdered by angry mobs who superstitiously blamed them for every problem and inconvenience. You know, kind of like what your lot would like to see happen to gay people.
Learn what you are talking about topekaclark. As you do, you will begin to feel a remarkable freedom from fear and agitation. After that, you will start to realize that, you will find that you can actually start living your life, rather than looking forward to its end.
“I look at revelations [sic]”
Revelation. Read it some time.
“as a love letter to us, warning us,”
Love? it’s a threat. All of Christainity is a threat. God’s ‘love’ for us is expressed as extortion. “LOVE ME or i’ll be FORCED, simply FORCED to burn you for eternity in a pointless act of revenge.”
"that one last chance.”
Why not one LASTER last change, four seconds after I meet God and finally have evidence that he’s real?
"It's free will, if you chose to act or not.”
The concept of hell makes no sense at all in light of what i was taught as a Christain. The concept of a loving god setting up a torture chamber for little kids makes no sense. I can’t ‘act’ to accept something so offensive to my sensibilities. Like expecting some people to accept that their son is now their daughter. Or expecting others to criticize Trump. Not going to happen.
"If you chose to disobey and not accept the father here's the alternative. No different than what we do with our own children.”
No. I punish my kids. I discourage future behavior that i don’t approve of or allow. I don’t throw them into the boiler.
Confused?
