[Commenting on an article about Jewish-non Jewish intermarried burials]
There is only one role for the non-Jew in the synagogue - employee. If a Jew decides to abandon the faith by intermarrying (and that IS abandoning the faith, make no mistake about it) burial in a secular cemetery is one of the consequences. If you want to live and die as a Jew, then marry one. end of discussion.

Gee, this religious marriage thing is starting to sound like more trouble than it's worth. One arbitrary hurdle after another. Same with burials. Picky, picky, picky.
Good that the governments these days can provide all of this without all of that nightmarish bureaucracy and red tape. What a strange and counterintuitive world we live in, huh?
Personally, I'm reminded of the resolution passed by the Knesset about 12 years ago that holds that the only true Jews are Orthodox.
And you wonder why I abandoned Judaism all those years ago.
Hmmm. Seems to me that a Jewish chauvinist ought to be arguing FOR Jewish women to marry outside the faith in order to increase the Jewish population since, theologically and traditionally, the children of a Jewish mother are automatically Jews, regardless of the religious status of the father.
BTW, I'm not Jewish ~ just another heathen with a better understanding of some religions than their fundy adherents manifest.
When we humans are extinct, future explorers might glean knowledge of us by examining our ruins, let's hope that they don't have cause to unearth our graveyards and conclude that we were a doomed bunch of deranged morons.
Ultimately, our artifacts and ruins, and even our planet will go the way of all matter. The Universe won't care who you were buried near, or where you were buried, or whether you were a fundie, Jewish or otherwise, or a human.
This person is NOT A JEW. They are a TROLL. They know nothing about the way actual Judaism works. A person born to a Jewish mother, into a Jewish family, is considered Jewish no matter what they do, what faith they follow, or whom they marry. Blood is stronger than the path they choose. There IS a small minority of European Orthodox Jews (Of European descent, not necessarily IN Europe) - who have the attitude that non-jews are ignorant and crude, and that Jews are superior. But it's not an opinion that gets voiced often, or by many, and they still wouldn't say what 'bgl' has.
You know my best friend is a Jew. His brother is married to a non Jew. His girlfriend isn't a Jew. His family has accepted and welcomed both girls into their home. While I love them as a second family, I hope this does not dishonour them, on their behalf, fuck you.

I do love the concept of religious versus "secular" cemeteries. ... because our god likes this dirt better than that dirt over there even though we believe god made it all.
Where do they find these types, and how do they resist just selling them a bridge or two? Oh yeah, I guess it is practically the same thing.
I've always thought that rules for Jewish burial were insane. One of my friends grew up in a Jewish family, and his parents keep trying to discourage him from getting the tattoo he wants, because you can't be put in a Jewish cemetary if you have ANY ink.

Nothing against Judaism, but how many people wishing to convert could there possibly be? Taking issue with the few who do, would be like Vanilla Ice getting upset over people pirating his music--there's just not enough doing it, for it to make a noticeable difference. Justust tolerate them until the fad wears off, and they decide to become Native Americans, or Druids next week.

Which applies even leaving aside the weird stuff several thousand years of endogamy has done to the gene pool.
Further demonstrating that all of the major Abrahamic faiths carry with them the very real potential to engage in xenophobia justified by scripture whether it be Muslims vs Jews, Christians vs Muslims, Jews vs Gentiles, etc. I won't be as naive as to claim that people abandoning those divisive religions will bring peace but it'll be a step in the right direction.

It's times like these where I take what little faith in humanity I have left, tear it into a thousand tiny pieces, put the already-small pieces through a paper shredder to make them even smaller, and then burn what's left. I fail to see why are you so surprised. Take any crowd of, say, 100 000 - you are bound to find worst scum of the world among them. Given that there are more then 100 000 Jews in the world, some of them are bound to be racists.
Another reason religious faith is stupid, divisive and dangerous.
But yeah, let's totally respect it!
I'll give 50-50 odds that my brother-in-law wrote that. He hasn't even allowed me to see my nephew since my daughter was born. Apparently having a half-Jewish, half-Christian child is an even worse sin than intermarriage (or he thinks his toddler niece is going to try to convert his son). He didn't even attend his own brother's wedding, since he was marrying a non-Jew (though his parents, the winners that they are, didn't attend either)
(he's also abusive. and lazy. and racist. Real charmer that one is. Why is it that every time I'm reminded of him I rant like this?)
Being a Jew doesn't mean that you're automatically free from Fundies, although ours tend to be a little more outrageous than others.
Hmm... I would still vote Muslim fundies as the most outrageous ones - but that's IMHO.

True. One could probably make the argument that Christian fundies are the least crazy fundies out of all the Abrahamic religions. At least they only going around railing against science and spouting record numbers of logical fallacies per minute, instead of killing anyone who even looks at them wrong or are so racist that Hitler would have admired them had they been ethnic Germans... oh the irony.
