II Timothy 4:3 - Modernists don't have sound doctrine; this verse refers to fundamentalists! People want teachers, not preachers! Do you hear Neo's preaching on Hell? No! Ask the lifestyle evangelist, “How many have you won?”
Nine of the Ten Commandments are negative. If your preaching is not mostly negative, you're not a Bible preacher!

"In the Beginning, God created Heaven and Earth, and then told everybody to stay the fuck off the lawn."
Jesus' preaching was mostly positive.
I mean, I know DJS doesn't actually follow Jesus' teachings (and in fact outright defies nearly everything attributed to the Christ character), but here he's pretty much admitting that he doesn't think Jesus counts as a "True Christian."
Artists and writers of the 1920s don't have sound doctrine? How very interesting, kiddy fiddler. They produced more for humanity than you ever will.
You are totally negative.
II Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears
"Uh, I think so, Brain, but we'll never get a monkey to use dental floss."
"For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers , having itching ears;"
Says the one whose incoherent and self-contradictory theology is pretty transparently "I want to criticise people for their vices even though I am a very sick freak myself!"
I would guess that most of the 613 commandments in the OT are 'negative,' in that they tell us things NOT to do. Pity they don't tell us why, though.
Then we could have a moral system. As it is, we just have a list of forbidden activities.
Seriously, why is 'murder' bad, for instance? Is that because all people have value, no matter their ideology? Or is it more that taking a life has an impact on the believer, a soul stain maybe, but the murder itself isn't a problem?
Working with nuclear weapons, we have four safety standards, and thirty or so safety rules. They're mostly 'negative,' in that the goal is to 'prevent' an unauthorized launch, 'prevent' an accident, 'prevent' a surprise nuclear explosion... But there's ALSO a raft of verbiage to explain each standard and rule. No watchstander has a prohibition they have no way of understanding.
So we're better with nukes than God is with souls....
Confused?
