People like this are just cheap provocateurs and not artists. The only satisfaction they get is when good Christians and decent people react to their silliness. They are not skilled enough to produce work that can stand on it's own merit. So instead, they must provoke a reaction. What really drives them crazy is an actual critique of their technical ability instead of the content. Since they are usually lacking in skills (and well aware) then pointing out their inadequacy makes them very angry. On the other hand, when Christians and other decent people react to their provacative content then that just feeds their ego."

Sorry; as somewhat of an artist myself I believe a level of skill is necessary to make the work "art". IMHO. Just gratuitous shock for it's own sake might be funny, and/or might get a desired negative reaction from the target audience, but art? Mmm, naw, not much more "artistic" than Howard Stern, it's just potty play that appeals to 12 year olds. Now, if the guy makes a lifelike statue of Jesus out of a pile of shit, I'd appreciate the hell out of it!
Um,having read the article, I'm not sure that's artistic. Pornographic, kind of, creepy, definitely, art, not so much. Granted, this is the world that allowed a South American artist to find a stray dog on the street, chain it in a museum and let people watch it starve to death and call the process and the corpse "art". I have problems with both pieces.
You know, if my kid was gay, meh, I hope he meets someone nice. Wants to wander the world for a couple of years, just be safe and talk to people who have already done it.
But if my kid wanted a Liberal Arts degree, WHERE THE HELL DID I GO WRONG!!!!!!!!!! I refuse to pay for a 'do you want fries with that' degree.

I have an arts degree. Whoever said that those who go for shock pieces are the ones with little or no actual talent is right. There are people with real talent who produce great stuff who are struggling to be recognised, and then some douche 'creates' something like this, makes a pile of money from it, while at the same time giving all the genuine people a bad name. Makes me sick.
