Nothing was said during my wedding ceremony about multiplying. Hubby and me married because we (ok, mostly me) wanted to. We were faithful to each other before we married and we are faithful now; we don't need the threat of any deity to do that, the love for each other is a much better “glue”.
Children have a birthday, and they breathe. Embryos in week 9, or so, when most abortions happen, do not.
It makes perfect sense: if you feel you are not able to provide a good life for a possible future child, you ought not to bring that child into the world. If you have, say, three kids and feel that is as much as you can handle, having a fourth child will be bad both for the already existing children, and for the new one.
Marriage IS for me; I loved having the party (the dress, the cake, the food, the families and friends), and the gifts were great, I love that hubby and me have the same name (my family's name, btw), and to be able to tick the "married" box on forms.
If God wanted us to multiply, he failed dismally; we haven't been able to become pregnant, even after 28 years together. Now I'm too old...
