Thousands Of Varieties Of Foods Couldn't Have Just Happened

In a recent episode titled, “How The Earth Was Made” by Walt Disney's H2 (History Channel), the narrator (Mike Rowe) refers to the earth's creation as an “Accidental Aftermath” and a “Cosmic Glitch.” Do you really think it was mere astronomically improbable coincidence that we have a choice to eat between beef, lamb, chicken, pork, lobster, fish (and other varieties) of meat? If there were no divine Maker, then what factor determined that there would be cattle? What factor in the evolutionary process decided that we would have pork? Can you image the world without any of the awesome varieties of fruits, vegetables, meats, spices and foods that we enjoy?

Do you really think it was mere astronomically improbable coincidence that we have a line of cards in that exact order? I ask, because the odds against that exact order of cards is 80,658,175,170,943,878,571,660,636,856,403,766,975,289,505,440,883,277,824,000,000,000,000 to 1

Given that those are worse odds than are often given for the chances of life happening "just by chance", I guess that something being astronomically improbable will still happen...

Of course, this assumes you've got the ability to understand what the fuck you're talking about and it's implications... but since it's David J Stewart, that assumption is in error. (and how...)

Ooh! Evolution denial! *puts on biology hat*

Although abiogenesis is still a hypothesis (unless there has been some advance I don't know about), when it comes to evolution, well, kind of. Different meats are different because the muscle was needed for different things. For instance, the texture of fish is so much different than the texture of beef because a cow has to put out constant force to continue moving forward, while a fish can just make one quick, powerful burst and coast along in the water.

Artificial selection. Simple.

No factor "decided" anything, except for the human palate. That's right - artificial selection strikes again.

Yes, I can imagine that. No, I don't think it means anything.

Okay, I'm actually spending some time to explain this:

A consumer/predator is more likely to search for a type of food if his (for the sake of convenience) mind says it is delicious.
If he search for this type of food more he will get more.
If he get more to eat he will more likely to survive.
If he survive he will pass down the preference to the next generation to help them survive.
And when the successive bloodline of successful predators continue to a time when they build a civilization, the food they considered to be delicious will be recorded in their culture as so.

Though, I doubt if I can really explain the genes for alcohol and lactose tolerance to him with more complex terms.

At first, we evolved to like the taste of whatever was available, edible and as energy-rich as possible, because actually enjoying eating (preferably something that satisfies the high energy requirements of our big brains) is a fucking survival trait! Then we invented cooking, agriculture and animal husbandry, and we began adapting our food to our tastes and needs. It's not rocket surgery, Dave! Being omnivores who can eat a huge variety of foods instead of being limited to a very specialized diet like koalas or pandas also contributed a lot to humanity's success.

I'd also point out that the vast majority of animal and vegetal species went extinct waaaaay before humans came around. Following your "logic", what was the purpose of creating the T-rex if humans will never know how it tasted? Oh, wait, you actually believe that dinosaurs coexisted with humans, don't you? :P

David J. Stewart is at level of stupidity that makes Devastator look like Stephen Hawking. He is so insane he makes Menasor look like a thoughtful, balanced individual. We all know this. But i've always been able to decipher how it makes sense in his twisted mind. I cannot do that with this quote however. This quote is so illogical, foolish and nonsensical that I am not physically able to believe any man is capable of actually believing this. And what really sucks is that he could've made actual sense! He could've said something about how all those things are edible to humans, which might suggest a creator. He still would've been wrong as hell, but it'd make more sense than this shit! But no, he says something that Jack Chick would regard as insane!
