[You don't use a seatbelt?]
No, I don't.
Even if I had a seatbelt on I could still be killed.
It's just another way for the government to make money.
I will die when God says so, not because I have a little belt over my shoulder.

Although "God helps those who help themselves" isn't actually a bible quote, expecting God to do it for you is slothful and unchristian.

I guess he's implying it's just something else the government can fine you for. But then, not wearing one would be playing into their hands...
Oh wait, I got it, he's talking bull!

Except if you don't wear a seatbelt when you're in the back seat, your body being thrown forwards in a crash will crush the spine of the person sitting in front and result in instant paralysis or death, whether or not they were wearing a belt and whether or not you survive. If you think god will save you, whoopee fucking do, but respect the front passenger's right not to believe that and not be killed by your ignorance - wear a belt. You have the right to your beliefs, you have the right to live or die by them, but you sure as hell don't have the right to determine someone else's life or death chances from them.

In that case, and following your reasoning, you´d be in favour of gun control. I mean, this is a real method of taking money, because guns and their licence COST REAL MONEY, not the seat belt, and you´re going to die when God says so. Or you can have unprotected pre-marital sex, following that reasoning.

How the hell does the government make money from someone wearing a seat belt? If anything, I'd think that not wearing a seat belt, and getting ticketed for it, would make the government money. o.o

Let's abolish speed limits, too, and let everyone drive in 150 km/h. If they die, what's the problem, it's God's will.
It would be so ironic if he died in an accident, only because he wasn't wearing one. http://www.snopes.com/autos/accident/seatbelt.asp

This guy's whole journal could be on fstdt.not wearing a belt could net him a fine, and he said that he got pulled over and the cop didn't fine him. I guess he thinks that since it didn't happen once it will never happen.
I will say this for him; he's actually a pretty nice guy. He really thinks that his advice will help people. I've never once seen him get angry with a troll (and he gets his fair share of those). He means well, but you know what they say the road to hell is paved with...

At least raven55 can say he/she puts his/her life in God's hands. Many claim to, but don't really. They still take out life insurance, look both ways before they cross the street, etc. They also claim God is always watching, though they do things only in private they'd never do with someone watching, much less God. When you think about it, religious folk live their lives more atheistically than they realize.

Raven55, guess what? If you get ejected from a vehicle, it'll hurt others too. You're just a selfish cunt. May you get in a wreck bad enough to bang you up real good (without permanent injuries) so that you change your mind.

Time once again for the old joke about the minister caught in a flood. A row boat came by, but he waved it away, saying "God will look after me". Then a power boat came by, and he waved that away, too. Finally a helicopter offered to rescue him, but once again he said "God will look after me". Then he drowned. So he went up to God and said "How come you let me drown after I showed such faith in you?" God said, "Hey. I sent two boats and a helicopter - what more did you expect?"

Fine. But if you're in my car, you'll use a fucking seatbelt. Not that I care whether you die, it's just that I don't wanna have to repair this shit-box AGAIN.

The state makes money because seatbelts are now mandatory on all passengers. In my state, we have roadblocks where the driver is fined $40 for each passenger without a belt. I got fined because I took my belt off after we were stopped.

Being a rather lousy driver by even the most generous standards, I've cracked up a few cars in my time, even in a couple of cases where it wasn't my fault. I know better than to have human bodies flying loose around the car cabin and am quite zealous on the seatbelt issue.
You are a fucking idiot and I hope you reap the full benefits of your position, very slowly. I hope you're fully conscious when they pull you out of your windshield after you've snapped your spine by being busted in half over your steering wheel, and I hope you spend the rest of your (hopefully cruelly extended) life forced to contemplate the brain injury that lopped fifty points off your IQ and left you permanently crippled and barely able to talk.
You are a total shithead and a Darwin award waiting to happen, and I hope those you leave behind become zealots for seat belt laws. Think of the ticket as a stupid tax in the meantime, mmmkay?

Oddly 3/4 of fatalities that still occur today, occur from not wearing seatbelts and being thrown from or around in the vehicle.
I don't have the percentage of people that don't wear seatbelts at hand, but if it's 10%, you're 27 times more likely to be killed by not wearing a seatbelt. If it's 5%, you're 57 times more likely.
(of course that's straight maths and doesn't take into account that idiots who don't wear seatbelts drive like idiots too.)

You know, if there was an evil atheist conspiracy, wouldn't we be spreading rumours that seatbelts are devices to prevent you being raptured?

By your logic, you shouldn't ever seek medical intervention if you or your loved ones get sick or hurt. After all, most doctors hope to make some money through their craft, and the illness or accident was a result of God's will, right?

"It's just another way for the government to make money."
In my country, the government makes money from tickets for idiots driving without their seatbelts... You're going to buy one with every car anyway, might as well use the damn thing.

Your car has a seatbelt in it whether you use it or not. You already paid for it. Quit being an idiot and buckle up.
On second thought, feel free not to.

I would not have been alive today if I had not used the seatbelt on a summer's day in 1982. Nor would my parents and my three siblings. If some of us hand been using belts but not others, the unbelted ones would have killed the belted ones when our car turned over and landed on the roof after a drunk driver smashed into us.
Do you have any idea of the force in a car crash? If the person behind you is not belted, he will hit you with the force of an elephant or two. He will break your neck, or even behead you, as he shoots out through the windshield and lands some 30 feet from the car-wreck. (This is figuratively, I have not done the exact math.)
If you use "the little belt over your shoulder" you will be sore for a week or so and might have a belt-shaped bruise across your torso for a while, but that's probably all.
If we are going to be really macabre, I'd rather be a fairly pretty corpse belted in the car, than a smashed, mangled and scraped corpse lying in a ditch some 30 feet from the car.

I take it you refuse medicine and refuse to allow anyone to medically treat you, then. After all, it is up to god, and doctors, like seatbelts, make no difference.
