I wore a dress to church once that I thought was kinda pretty. I usually wear pants and top because I don't want the poorer people to feel bad - I'm "poor" too, but there are some that just don't have nice clothes or know how to dress - anyway - I don't like to dress up too much because I don't want anyone to feel bad cuz they're not dressed up, too. SO, I found some dresses at Goodwill and it was a holiday so I wore one and the pastor gave me a look that I just knew was sort of a "Man Look", you know? I felt really trashy and couldn't wait to get out of there that day. He's really a nice guy and I felt bad for turning his head.

Go to him, get to your knees and say that you're sorry. Then receive the spanking you deserve.
Am I the only one who thinks that those people have serious sexual issues?
Leading a priest into temptation.... yes ... that's sure to mean purgatory for you, you bad, bad girl...
you naughty, bad, wicked, nasty girl....
I think you need a .... spanking ...
Hmm, your name isn't Zoot by any way ?

You are dressing like that to stop poor people from feeling bad? Are you expecting the October revolution? Or what? You will turn up in Audrey Hepburn's Little Black Dress from Breakfast at Tiffany's wearing the Kohinoor diamond?
Poor pastor, he gets tempted by someone who seems like total crazy...
what were you doing wearing pants in the first place!? You should always wear formless long plain dresses, a bonnet, and plain flat shoes! Also make sure you never make eye contact with anyone and never speak unless spoken to. Geez, fundies these days. I tell you the country is going to shit.
This is really sad. This woman shouldn't have to apologise for having a body and being attractive. Grr, this is what patriarchal indoctrination, double standards and fundyism does to people. You know, look pretty and fuckable but not too slutty (read: appearing to have any desires of your own). Look pure and innocent but sexy and beautiful as well. You are told you need to be masculine to get by in a man's world, but don't be too masculine, you'll be a bitch and possibly get accused of not being feminine enough. Don't be too feminine, 'cos it makes you weak and you'll not be taken seriously. Sorry society, you can't have it both ways!
Or, you don't know what a 'man look' is. Maybe he had gas, or saw something behind you. Or had a thought about something totally irrelevant.
Or maybe he thought you looked nice. He's a pastor, not a corpse.
Or maybe you're blowing it out of proportion.
I don't know what to think here. Going on past performance, I wouldn't put it past the pastor to be a perv, but at the same time, Maggie has some serious self-image issues.
You know, I have to say that while the "ashamed of attracting the pastor's attention" thing is pretty sad, I'm amazed that nobody's commented on what an incredibly shallow bitch this girl is to begin with.
^It's a product of fundemental religion that says women are responsible for men's lust.
Of course, in way, that's true. But obviously they shouldn't feel bad about it.
Maggie sounds like the most rational, likable RR member I've ever read.
She shouldn't feel guilty, but she's got her mores she lives by, and she tries to leave other people feeling good about themselves.
For some reason, this reminds me of that fake Mariah Carey quote that was floating around on the 'net for awhile: "When I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean, I'd love to be skinny like that, but not with all those flies and death and stuff."
I'm not sure which bothers me more, the condescending "poor people" comments, or the "man look" comment. Fuck this is borderline Landover stuff.
And when I was a fundie, no woman ever wore pants. No pants, no skirts above the knee, no straight skirts, blouses up to the collarbone, no uncovered shoulders. Are the rules so hard to follow?
Sounds like she and the other women of the 0parish are abominations in the eyes of the Lord.
After all they´re wearing pants in church, mens clothing. So Maggie should continue wearing dresses in church as it is obviously Satan who wants ro deceive Maggie to sin again and wear pants in church.
One should tell Maggie that she risks being stoned and thrown into the fiery realms of hell if the doesn´t stop wearing pants ;)
You probably just think about yourself way too much and have the mistaken idea that other people find you as interesting as you do and so they also think about you constantly. In reality, though, you're a very small-minded and boring woman. You should try to get over this way of thinking because it makes you kind of a shitty person.
Weird yes, but it seems maggie is a rare breed on RR.
She just felt guilty of having dresses when no one else could afford one.
As well as the common fundi thought of "Being pretty makes men have animal like lust)
This is the saddest thing I've read all week. Look, if he gave you a "Man" look, that's his problem, not yours. Who cares what he thinks? If a man finds a woman attractive, he'll look even if she's wearing a paper bag. So wear what you want. Please?
Just when you think you've seen the most fucked-up fundie statement ever, you click on the random quotes and find a little gem like this.
And btw, Maggie, most "poorer" people don't give a shit that you're better dressed than they are, that's usually the least of their concerns.
Fundies and narcissism seem to go hand in hand.
"I found some dresses at Goodwill and it was a holiday so I wore one and the pastor gave me a look that I just knew was sort of a "Man Look", you know? I felt really trashy and couldn't wait to get out of there that day."
" I don't like to dress up too much because I don't want anyone to feel bad cuz they're not dressed up, too."
Maggie: 'Pastor, take off my dress.'
Pastor: 'Yes Maggie.'
Maggie: 'Pastor, take off my stiletto heels.'
Pastor: 'Yes Maggie.'
Maggie:' Pastor, take off my stockings.'
Pastor: 'Yes Maggie.'
Maggie: 'Pastor, take off my bra.'
Pastor: 'Yes Maggie.'
Maggie: 'Pastor, take off my panties.'
Pastor: 'Yes Maggie.'
...
...
...
Maggie: '...and pastor, if I catch you wearing them again, I'll give you such a spanking!'
Pastor: 'Y-Y-YES MAGGIE!!'

Self-centerd much? Who cares what you wear to church? Others aren't as interested in you and your clothing as you think they are. Shouldn't you be thinking about the Lord in church?
The pastor might have just thought "hey, she made an effort, finaly", or he thought the dress was pretty. What the heck is a "Man Look"?
Here people usually wear their best everyday-clothes to church, you should make an effort for the weekly meeting with the Lord.
Confused?
