but gay people arent victimizing others, the gay people they sodomize are willing partners in it. thats the difference.

Being gay does not harm other individuals. Molesting children and killing others do.
Accepting someone for who they are means exactly that. Doesn't mean that you have to like them or what they do. It means that you acknowledge that they have the right to exist in their own way. Of course in the case of murders and pedophiles, you have the right to protect yourself and your family from them.
That was Mr. Rogers' approach, yes.
