Not sure if it will destroy a marriage, but it sure is making mine miserable.
The wife has finally told me, (after many scriptures), that her support of gay marriage, is between her and God. And she will be attending one in April, 'cause they are her friends, and she has to support her friends. Now, I'll not be driving her, which is gonna cause all the more issues. I'm sorta wondering if she's gonna find a "friend" to drive her...Bah...not much longer....

Most people are born attracted to the opposite sex. Some people are born attracted to their same sex. Jesus isn't about finding reasons to hate each other, Jesus is about love. Your wife is remarkably enlightened to be accepting of her friends homosexuality. Rest assured, if she is heterosexual, nothing can change that. It's not something that can be learned, something that can be convinced.. it's something you're born with, either you are or you aren't.

If she has a drivers licence you're in trouble.
Oh no! Actual evidence that gay marriage is destroying a heterosexual marriage!
Or it could be the OP's senseless bigotry...
If I were a shit-stirrer, I'd go on Rapture Ready and ask him why his wife isn't being a good Christian wife and being submissive to her husband? Why is he not forbidding her to go to a gay marriage rally like a good Christian man?
I read a little of the thread. They actually believe that the US is protected by their god and that if we permit gay marriage across the board he will be pissed off enough to remove his 'hand of protection' from us. Or destroy us. I've heard that before but it never fails to amaze me when people truly believe it.
Doesn't seem to be a problem elsewhere in the world. Amsterdam has gay marriage and legalized marijuana and they're doing quite well. No wrath, no mass flooding, no genocide...nothing but people going about their daily lives and minding their own damned business.
Just as we all should be.
And the following week she'll be dropping divorce papers on you. You'll sit in your tacky living room & steam about it, get drunk off PBR, post stupid shit online & remain single & bitter for the rest of your life.
Yes, truly the rapture is imminent because a wife doesn't want to be a total bigot and tells her husband to screw off so she can support her friends. Evidence that the gays are ruining hetero marriage, right there!

I thought God did that years ago when Obama was elected. How many hands does he have, anyway?
Hey Grady, if you wife leaves you, it won't be because of "teh gey", but because you're a douchebag.

That's not even the half of it. Wanna hear something that'd really make a raptard's head asplode?
One of the nations that has already legalized same-sex marriage isn't in that "godless socialist cesspool" that is Europe. Actually, it's none other than...
*drumroll*
..."God's chosen country", Israel!
If that hasn't motivated the invisible sky-daddy to do something, I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that he doesn't hate homosexuality, after all.
Problem, fundies? *troll-face*
Sounds like your wife has friends and you don't.
Bah...not much longer....
That's her mantra as she files her divorce papers.

Anyone else get the feeling that this means he's going to try to cut his wife off from any outside contacts that she has?
@ Da Rat Bastid
I wouldn't do that. Wouldn't want to commit manslaughter due to a fundie's brain melting into slag.
Actually, who am I kidding, there's no way for actual ability to tell I was there!
Oh Mr. Robertson...
You do realize that you could avoid your marital problems if, you know, you stopped being an homophobic asshole, right?
“Not sure if it will destroy a marriage, but it sure is making mine miserable.”
No, it’s not. The first same-sex wedding i was invited to was two retired sailors in 1982 or so. It’s had zero impact on your marriage.
The problem is between the two of you having different opinions on the subject and refusing to budge. Her because of the people involved, you because of scripture. Don’t blame gays because this is how you found the breaking point.
What i fear, though, is that by ‘not much longer’ you’re thinking the rapture is coming and you don’t need to put any effort into your marriage. Which is fine, but you may drag your feet on the coming divorce because you want to see the look on her face as you float away. She doesn’t deserve that.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
