I still remember the day when those lying-ass Republicans (I think it was Gingrich and Delay, but won't swear to that) gave a press conference after Clinton ordered the first bomb raid on Al Qaeda in response to the bombing of the USS Cole, in which they they accused Clinton of taking military action just to distract from the Lewinski affair. Limbaugh and his ilk followed suit in ridiculing Clinton for the attack, and of course, Clinton backed down.
So now they blame Clinton for the Cole bombing, which took place very early in his term, rather than blame his predeccessor Poppa Bush, who never acted on intelligence he should have, yet they also blame Clinton for 9/11, which was not on his watch, because he didn't expand on the military operations they so resoundingly ridiculed.
Clinton was a hell of a lot more proactive than either Bush, especially Dubya, who dropped the daily White House Al Qaeda intelligence briefings Clinton had estabished when he came into office, and ignored urgent memos warning of an impending attack.
Bush was negligent and the attack happened, yet all these idiots do is praise him because there hasn't been another large scale attack since then.
As ever, Republicans are resonsible for nothing, no matter how hugely they fuck up--it's always the Democrats' fault, no matter how far back in time these asshats have to go to find an excuse to blame them.
When another attack does happen due to the hatred created by Bush's phony war on the wrong people, they'll find a way to blame a Democrat for that, too.
