@David D.G.
"I'm reminded of a rather strange woman who spoke with the author of the book Eats, Shoots & Leaves at one of her book signings. When told that the book was about punctuation, the woman went on and on about how awful it was that there was NO WAY TO LEARN PUNCTUATION -- saying this, repeatedly, to the woman selling her book on punctuation (and by no means the only book with information on the subject, of course).
In other words, Carico and her ilk are proud of their ignorance, and they insist, demand, decree that everyone else be as ignorant as they. What amazing insanity this is."
...and when we Atheists refuse to go along, sheeple-like, as a child, with their insistence, demands & decrees that we must be as ignorant as they, the likes of Carico - and a certain person in this thread who shall remain clueless (and intellectually inferior as a result) - they resort to threats & psychological blackmail: 'Turn or Burn'. So indeed, David D.G., what amazing insanity this is.
Delusion = insanity. Two or more people sharing the same delusion = Religion.
'A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.'

One of the earliest gaps filled was when the first lightning conductor was put up on a building: a church. When it was realised that lightning wasn't the 'Wrath of God', but an explainable (and even repeatable experiment today, via electrostatic apparatus) and natural atmospheric occurrence. Even if lightning is the 'Wrath of God' as the likes of Carico would claim here, then surely the very fact we can counteract said 'Wrath' with nothing more than an architecturally-placed metal rod with a copper strip leading from such down to the ground, rendering the effects of such a potentially structurally damaging, nay, lethal atmospheric discharge harmless,* therefore means that we mere mortals have beaten God (and that's before I mention the Smallpox Eradication Program, from 1950-80; medical science beating God at his own game).
Knowledge is indeed power (pun may or may not be intended). "Of course secular scientists would see it as "brain atrophy" but I like the trade off!" eh, Barb(ie)? Yet, in your use of something to say so on Ruptured Retards, the very secular scientists who rejected the 'trade off' gave you the very thing you use to say so. Certainly one very secular scientist, Alan Turing:
image
No less than the Father of Modern Computing. Cryptologist at Bletchley Park in WWII, whose mathematical/electro-mechanical genius via his 'Bombes' and later in the construction of the first digital computer Colossus, and their decryptions of Nazi Enigma transmissions, shortened the war in Europe, and ensured 600,000+ US troops came home. Whose later developments in computers ensured the existence of what we use today, and thus the internet, ergo Ruptured Retards (and of course it's nemesis, FSTDT).
You profess your ignorance, via the invention of an Atheist. And a Homosexual. Now who's the ignorant one...?
Alan Turing is having the last laugh - also at you & your intellectual inferiority - and he's dead. But ignorant or not, realise this: as you lot claim, all things happen as part of your 'God's unknowable plan. Thus God made Turing a homosexual. Just as he made him, he made every other Atheist and/or homosexual (including those LGBT people who have given us the products of modern science since). Who are you to question his will?
Enjoy your paradox. Don't like 'secularists' (especially scientists with their non-atrophied, non-believing, brains) and homosexuals? Better start throwing away those computers then; indeed, leave those modern homes, cars, clothes etc, and go live in caves, wearing animal skins, and eating raw food. Because everything you see around you is as a result of scientists, and accepting their inventions means you're hypocrites of the worst kind.
*- And in the future, with superconductive coils, we may be able to store lightning-based electricity for the good of humanity.

"athiens" "apocolipce" "Santan" "You must chose [sic] one"
As the saying goes 'That which is asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence'. In this case, 'That which is asserted by an intellectual inferior fundie has no right to be listened to, as he/she is too illiterate to have the ability to have a coherent, logical thought, never mind form an 'opinion' based on such.'
But then, if a fundie were properly educated (and no, 'hoemskuling' has no right to be considered an education, therefore the practice should be illegal worldwide), via a curriculum based on hard, solid facts based on evidence (i.e. Reality), they wouldn't be fundies in the first place.
There's a good reason why - in all developed, civilised countries - education is compulsory. You want to be inferior to China, you go right ahead, fundies in the US. I'm not stopping you; as I always say, 'I for one welcome our new Chinese overlords'. They're not letting religion get in the way of their new 'Great Leap Forward'. And why? Because in that country, religion has no right to tell people what to do, which is as things should be: In Soviet China, God worships you.

"He made the rainbow (which is impossible to explain scientifically)"
Yet, a child can not only explain, but replicate the formation of such a visual phenomena via a simple experiment. I did that at school too. As I can today, with nothing more than a squirt bottle (with mist nozzle) and a sunny day. A small-scale duplication of whenever the sun shines after a rain shower, and sunlight (at an angle of 42°) is refracted through tiny droplets of water suspended in the air, causing the splitting of light - the visual band of the electromagnetic spectrum - into it's seven component colours (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo & Violet) describing a circular arc; which, whilst not actually physically existing, can at least be seen (can't exactly say the same for your so-called 'God', eh fundies? So much for his so-called 'Omnipotence' then, if he can't do something as piss easy as actually appear in physical form that can be seen, heard & touched; and no, not 'Jesus', he doesn't count: 'God' himself). See? I (and everyone else) can not only make a rainbow, I can explain such in extremely simple terms (even for the intellectually inferior fundie). Therefore I am God!
Moral: The rest of the world is laughing at you, right-wing Fundamentalist Christian USA. Including the sane, non-fundie, educated USA. Like I say: the (at best) irreligious China, with it's unlimited pool of educated talent filling - especially post-graduates - all those research posts. Gene therapy & gene-based cures for diseases & ailments. The second 'Space Race'. Who will be the first to develop a desktop-sized Quantum Computer? Want to be second-rate, America? Second best? Inferior? Well, that's what religion is doing to you, USA. China...? Nope, no religion there, least of all keeping their people hamstrung educationally. Like I say: I for one welcome our new Chinese overlords.
Wasn't it a certain George Dumbya Bush who, several years ago - just to keep his country's economy afloat - borrowed from China $1.5-2 billion. A day...?! China holds $1 trillion in US currency; cold, hard ca$h. They effectively own you already.
Chinese banking executives/traders. Highly educated, Atheist Chinese. You do the maths, US fundies. [/Irony]
And as I - a British Atheist - just happen to have two high-interest accounts with HSBC, well...! PROTIP: HSBC. That's as in 'Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation'.
