I don't believe in ANY of the 2500+ man-made one-true all-powerful gods.
BTW, which one are you talking about? Odin, Moluch, Zeus, Thor, Manitou............?
Religion is a man-made answer to a man-made question, and is his very worst invention.
EDIT: I will not demonise or kill anyone in the name of an invention.
Idiot. Evolution is not designed to disprove your pathetic god, it does so because your god doesn't exist. And the primary doctrine in most christian churches that explain HOW god created life is theistic evolution. Creationism is a small minority withing the church as a whole. You all just have the biggest f'ing mouths out of the whole group. Learn something from some other source than fundy BS.
"The basic purpose of it though is to disprove God."
No fundtard, the purpose of the theory of evolution is to understand the development and diversity of life on this planet. It is neither pro god nor anti god it is simply science.
"And most who believe in evolution do not believe in God.."
No one believes in evolution any more than they believe in gravity or electricity. Science is accepted based upon evidence and nothing else, it is not a belief system.
"The basic purpose of it though is to disprove God."
Only in the minds of spook-obsessed fundies. Unless you also want to claim the basic purpose of electricity is to disprove god by putting up lightning rods and deflecting gods wrath away from the houses of atheists.
All triangles are polygons, not all polygons are triangles.
It's possible to believe in God, and evolution at the same time. Seriously, has nobody ever heard of Theistic Evolution?
Biologists haven't the slightest interest in disproving God. Besides, evolution doesn't disprove God, and disproving evolution wouldn't prove God, either.
1. No it wasn't.
2. Actually it'd be about half and half, if not leaning more towards the Christians. At least in the U.S.
3. No, evolution has nothing to do with the origin of matter and little to do with the origin of life.
actually many/most people who aren't scientists believe in god, and a lot of them also accept evolution. Wrong.
And the basic purpose of the theory of evolution is to explain how reality works. It just happens that reality doesn't agree with your holey babble, however it is possible to accept evolution and still believe in some kind of god, you just have to not take the babble or other holy book literally and believe that god guided evolution or some such. Wrong again.
And I repeat, since you apparently didn't read the message of the guy you were talking to, evolution has nothing to do with the origins of life, and even less to do with the origins of the universe. Wrong yet again.
Three strikes, you're out.
Actually, a majority of those that accept evolution are Christian, and a majority of Christians accept Evolution. You are just a VERY loud minority.
Actually, most creationists around the world are either Muslim or Hindu. So yeah... we can assume your feelings about being in THAT crowd...
> The basic purpose of it though is to disprove God.
False. Evolution is science. It has nothing to do with religion, and the two don't mix very well.
> And most who believe in evolution do not believe in God
[citation needed]
And what does this have to anything?
> and thus instead believe that life spontaneously generated
Evolution and abiogenesis are two different things.
You are correct that abiogenesis was spontaneous rather than just "random chance".
> and that matter came from nothing.
Energy isn't "nothing".
Also, the Big Bang has nothing to do with evolution.
Confusion of science and atheism. Confusion of the big bang, baryogenesis and star nucleosynthesis with evolution. Confusion of spontaneous life generation with abiogenesis. Confusion of abiogenesis with evolution, descent with modification and natural selection. False claim that Christians cannot accept the discoveries of science: most Catholics do. There also are theistic evolutionists. Finally, there can be no denial of that for which there is no evidence. Since there is overwhelming evidence supporting the fact that we have evolved, we can rightfully call its denial: denial. False equivalence. Straw men all the way down. Alienation.
Confused?
