We've already discussed how you should not befriend someone who is an athiest. You, as a Christian, cannot be unequally yoked together with an unbeliever.

No close contact with people outside of the cult - check. Outside influence is the devil.
But, BR, how are you going to evangelize us atheists, if you won't at least PRETEND to be our friend?
Running scared, aren't we Brother Randy? Jesus doesn't like his followers to "hide their light under the basket". First sign of a cult, isolate person from people and friends who disagree with the cult-leader. They must have no friends outside of the leaders control.
"I find it strange, though. How could we be there to help them find God if we're not allowed to befriend them? You're aware that the greatest contempt for Christians by Atheists are when we run up to them, shove a Bible in their hands and scream "Believe in God or you'll burn for eternity!!" and then scuttle off. That just drives them away from us when we shove what we believe down their throat."
There's someone over there with at least basic awareness of his surroundings. My faith in humanity is restored.
I see, so you are supposed to convert atheists, homosexuals, Muslims, Hindus, Jains, etc.. by being cold and unfriendly?
Old perv Randy is circling the wagons I see. Probably one or more the young teen girls he's fondling for the Lord was caught reaching out for help.
Paul (Corinthians): Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
God (Leviticus): "Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD."
Jesus (Mark): And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Fundies never listen to God or Jesus when they can find something in the babbling of that misogynist pedant, Paul, that agrees with their preconceived bigoted opinions.
The equal yoking thing refers to marriage, not friendship. And even then it's twitchy, because dude, we're not oxen. It was just a parable--a METAPHOR--not a commandment.
From the same thread, by Bro. Randy: If we, as Christians, walk in Christ with an excellent testimony, the world will be attracted to us.
The world is not attracted to you Randy. Your testimony is pitiful. You make Jesus :headdesk: everyday.
That "unequally yoked" passage has to be one of the Bible's most horrifically misused and misunderstood passages. It drives me insane when people use it out of context to oppose things it was never intended to oppose, and Bro. Randy-4-Teens is a fine example of ripping it 10,000km out of context!
*Sigh*
I disagree with the whole conversion thing, but there were some sensible replies there - and then BR showed up and it all went to pot. Typical.
I wonder if that agnostic who posted will get booted out. He/She was perfectly polite, but it wouldn't surprise me.
I, a very loving and accepting atheist, can't be friends with a bigoted, brainless-sycophant "Teen 4 Christ?"
Actually, I'm liking that idea.
This is a sad, sad thread. The guy might still have a chance of befriending this girl if he doesn't take bro.(fundie of the month)Randy seriously, but still... Fucking hell. Way to convert Randy. Fucking way to go :(
"From the same thread, by Bro. Randy: If we, as Christians, walk in Christ with an excellent testimony, the world will be attracted to us."
Um, doesn't Randy say in numerous other places that the world should hate you if you're serving God properly?
So much better to huddle on the internet with somebody who may or maynot be who they say they are. Someone who tells you how to dress, behave, talk, what to read, what to watch and who to talk to. It's like you don't even realize that you are a cult leader, its not just a matter of following your cult leader manual, you've actually become that leader, and it's frightening.
Bro. Randy is not a cult leader. It´s just a mistaken idiot who makes a fool of himself. I find now understandable his ignorance of other religions, Catholics and Muslims above all. If they don´t befriend "unbelievers", they don´t know how they really behave and hence all the kibosh such as "Catholics are not Christians" or his "version" of Darfur.
Let me guess: right after this, Bro. Randy4Teens (sorry, couldn't resist) banned the person in question.
Those people need to get as far away from this guy as possible before he goes up in a ball of fire. I'm not suggesting anyone here would light him up, but it's only a matter of time before he tries it...
You, as a Christian, cannot be unequally yoked together with an unbeliever.
Then who did Jesus hang around?
Dear Bro. Randy,
Would you give medicine to a healthy man? How about food to a full man? How would you witness to someone that doesn't like or trust you?
Bro. Randy must be a Baptist, only they are this stupid when it comes to their religion.
Odd, this goes more or less against Christian doctrine, in fact, back when I was an evangelical christian, I remember being ENCOURAGED by my youth pastor to make non-Christian friends in order to convert them.
“We've already discussed how you should not befriend someone who is an athiest.”
You might improve your spelling from their feedback….
“ You, as a Christian, cannot be unequally yoked together with an unbeliever.”
Is FRIENDSHIP yoking people together?
I mean, when my wife wanted to baptize the kid, that was part of the commitment to marrying her. So, we did it and I attended.
When my friend wanted to go to a Captain and Tenielle concert, i had no interest, and felt no compulsion to join him. I didn’t go.
If i started suggesting he skip Mormon services, he would just tell me to flake off.
Doesn’t sound like yoked.
Confused?
