Atheism is something that is encouraged in our society. We basically live in a Godless society- and you can go to communist countries and thats the majority that rules are Atheists. Atheists also aren’t beaten and tortured for their beliefs in places like China- its the Christians who are murdered and beaten and slain and left to die in the streets. No atheist has ever been robbed of their right to not believe in God.
Its the Christians who are up against all odds. In Hollywood, you have much better luck if you proclaim yourself an Atheist- or even a Scientologist, than you do if you are Christian. Some Christians have been fired from jobs in Hollywood for their beliefs.
You make it seem like Atheism is a social taboo. Its actually the mainstream in the world in which we live today.

Good morning Meade, and welcome to Earth. A tourist guide will be by shortly to inform you of our history and current affairs, which will very likely differ in part or in whole from those of your home world. We hope you enjoy your stay.
Atheists or at least people who dislike superfluous bullshit tyrants have been burnt alive, tortured, slaughtered and if female, made sex slaves throughout out "godly" history.
Of course you wont even read this, even so,
FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU REAL GOOD!
China? Not about religion. It's about power. They don't want their citizenry believing there may be someone or something more powerful than the state.
Someone fired on basis of religion in Hollywood? Who was this? I assume the victim filed a lawsuit.
And, no. It still is pretty much taboo, even in America. Otherwise the "Religious Right" wouldn't have such a strong foothold in politics now.
"China makes it look like they are completely atheistic but in reality there are probably several million Christian's living in China, unmolested."
^ No and yes.
It's not made to look atheistic. They have their own amalgamation of religious traditions that they carry out. China, though, has a rather large Christian population -- they're not mistreated.
Silly Meade and not knowing anything about anything.
No communist country kills, slains and leaves to lie in the streets. They basically deny some human rights, but they do it with everyone, not just Christians. And, sorry to hear that, but seeing guys like Mel Gibson, Jimmy Caviezel and Kirk Cameron, I don't think that Hollywood has fired any believing actor. Again, in which alternative universe are you living?

believe in God."
I keep hearing "you have freedom of religion, not freedom from religion" from the fundies, so you fail.
Some Christians have been fired from jobs in Hollywood for their beliefs.
Only the ones that purposfully run over pedestrians in the Castro District*.
*I know the Castro District is in San Francisco, shut up.
Yeeeaaah. I'm an atheist. I own my own business. I cannot let my views be known or I would be out of business in a month because hardly anybody in my area would do business with "that damn atheist."
But that's just because I persecute the majority of people around here for being Christian. [/sarcasm]
Idiot.
Is that why all the presidential hopefuls are falling over themselves to proclaim their atheism? Christopher Hitchens recently wrote a book on religion in America, and he claims that on several occasions he talked to atheists in a Bible Belt town, each of whom thought he was the only atheist in town. So, yeah, atheism is a social taboo, at least in some parts of the US.
Seriously, the one time I would accept Christian persecution would be if they would take Tom Cruise down a few pegs. Him and Tom Hanks (even though he's Christian, he's not the right type, IE a non-shhatic kind) and Mel Gibson (Catholic)(even though he is Australian).
I'm thinking it would sound more reasonable with 'humanist' replacing 'atheist'.
In Hollyweird, you are judged by how you attract attention. Face it - hardcore religion and entertainment don't mix. Unless, of course, they are the Pastafarians, or The Church of Our Lady of the Extreme Piercings .
I won't deny that there are incidents of murder & mayhem around the world, but again, it boils down to how you attract attention, whatever/wherever you might be.
Humanism is the common denominator of all peaceful religions/philosophical systems on the planet. Which include atheism.
If you can not grasp the concept of humanism, you have serious issues in terms of your relationship to the rest of humanity.
93 percent of Americans subscribe to some sort of religion in varying degrees. I think 3 percent identify as atheist. I think you had better look up minority in your dictionary again.
....Spanish Inquisition, The Crusades ect. ect. ect.
BTW, Meade, you do realize that there is a difference between being fired for your beliefs and being fired for using your beliefs as a pretext to be a drama queen/nuisance/asshole, don't you?
You may also want to find a more representative example than Hollywood, anyway...

I take particular offense to that, you fucktarded revisionist sack of crap. Dying in a fire is TOO GOOD for you.
Read a goddamn history book.
Hollywood fires Christians that try to shove their beliefs down the throats of others. Get it right. For example, if I were the CEO of Life, Inc., I'd fire you from life if you dare try to mess with what I have the freedom to do. If your god gave us free will, why are you not following his example?

Last poll: Atheists 14%.
Don't think that didn't scare the fuck outta fundies, it was an end-time sign to many comments featured here. But then again, being out of milk get's these people looking up.
I'm guessing this guys all worked up that Victoria Jackson and Kirk Cameron are scrapping the bottom of the barrel for gigs. That they're awful and untalented wouldn't have anything to do with it.
Remember Pat Boone? Me neither.

You make it seem as we Atheists should care , seeing as you fundies - via your 'religions' & it's own political power - have been repressing Atheism for so long.
Solution: STFU and keep your unjustifiable 'beliefs' to yourself .
Fundies are an odd bunch. They declare victory before they even begin, claiming that they're always right, and yet they will say they are on the losing side.
There is one explanation, though: ego.
Its the Christians who are up against all odds. In Hollywood, you have much better luck if you proclaim yourself an Atheist- or even a Scientologist, than you do if you are Christian.
You were either exposed to lies or cannot interpret statistics. Since most of the US are white Christians, it's also true for most US actors. Maybe not the kind of specific Christian you like?
Some Christians have been fired from jobs in Hollywood for their beliefs.
You are misconstruing actions as belief (for thoughtcrime conspiracy theories and a persecution complex narrative). Actions are what can be observed and what may sometimes result in consequences.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
