Actually, God does not okay divorce for adultery, or anything else for that matter. Moses set up that law for divorce. Anyone in an abusive relationship needs to get out of it, by separation, not divorce. Let the abuser file for divorce, and your conscience will be clear before God. The funny thing about this is that I've heard of lots of "married" gay couples getting divorced and having custody battles over any children (by artificial insemination or adoption) involved in the "marriage." Another reason not to allow gay couples to adopt children, or have children by artificial insemination, for that matter. No offense intended to anyone living in California, but that state gets crazier by the day

I have heard about a much larger percentage of christian fundamentalists who get and having long battles over any property or childen they had ;)
In fact the divorce rates among christian fundamentalists seem to be much higher than that of other, more moderate christian denominations
Sounds like a good reason to prevent christian fundamentalists from adopting children, as one of the things kids need most, is a stable familiar environment.
First, the bible says that a married couple CAN divorce over adultery. So by you saying that your god didn't say it, that Moses did, is tantamount to denying that god wrote the whole bible. Second, how in the unholy hell did you get from that to homosexual marriage and their having children? That's some pretty fucked up reasoning right there, if one can truely call it reasoning.
"I've heard of lots of 'married' gay couples getting divorced and having custody battles over any children (by artificial insemination or adoption) involved in the 'marriage.'"
And how is this any different from what happens when a strait couple gets a divorce?

Your cunning plan would still involve both parties getting a divorce. So according to your vile holy book, the sin is still there for both people.

And yet straight couples go through this very same hell every single day, and I don't see you screaming to prevent straight marriage. You f***ing skanky pig.
Alright then. We won't allow fundie shotgun weddings because the bride is pregnant, drive-thru marriages in Vegas, kids getting married straight out of high-school because they desperately want to fuck, we'll ban IVF for anyone who wants kids and can't conceive naturally - using science to get around nature is of the devil, you know - prescribe mandatory abortions and Depo shots for all Quiverfulls and natalists, force every pro-lifer to adopt six crack babies and...
Oh, you're crying that you don't want to be a second-class citizen? Persecution? Line on the left, one tissue each.
"Actually, God does not okay divorce for adultery, or anything else for that matter. Moses set up that law for divorce."
So is the Bible the word of God or not...?
"Let the abuser file for divorce, and your conscience will be clear before God."
Yeah, I'm sure God would be fooled by that! Might as well say 'well I don't want to steal a shiny new Playstation 3 but if you decide to steal one and give it to me, I'd be fine with that'.
"Another reason not to allow gay couples to adopt children, or have children by artificial insemination"
Yeah, or anyone else.
"No offense intended to anyone living in California, but that state gets crazier by the day"
Shiny mirror much?
Plenty of straight people have custody battles over children. But nah, lets turn it into another anti-gay marriage rant. Twat.
Oh and California officially became crazy when Prop 8 passed.
"Let the abuser file for divorce"
I think this point, even if you ignore all the insane rambling about gay couples later, can prove all on its own that you are DIVORCED FROM REALITY.
Why the FUCK would an abusive spouse file for divorce? Why? Give me ONE good reason. Obviously it's not because he's sick of getting the shit beat out of him by a controlling, violent husband. Abusive husbands act like that because they get off on having that level of control over their spouse. Why would they give that up and file for divorce?
The only people in the world who shouldn't be allowed to have children OR adopt, are people as fuck-stupid as you.
Right, because a survivor of spouse abuse doesn't deserve to try marriage again with a person who truly loves and values them, and the abuser should hold all the marbles. I like the secular way better.
Actually, AnnOdom44 doesn't know her arse from her elbow. Other than being a sanctimonious dribble-brain she has no useful function. Trust me, you definitely wouldn't commit adultery with someone as dull as her.

So the woman should just live her life alone because she chose poorly, and her husband started hammering the bejeezus out of her? No, she has a right to be happy.
Let the abuser file for divorce, and your conscience will be clear before God.
Yeah, because abusers are all about giving up power.

And straight couples have never had dirty custody battles, uh-uh. So, I mean, if this is a reason for preventing gay marriage, it should be a reason for banning marriage altogether.
No offense intended to anyone living in California, but that state gets crazier by the day
Says the bastion of clarity and coherence.
Why the fuck would an abuser file for divorce? Most spouse-abusers are control freaks who need that power trip. They're filthy scum, but they do at least have enough common sense to realize that their wives are the only ones who'd put up with that shit at all.
And the argument about gay divorce is equally true of straight divorce. Leave the kettle alone, Mr. Pot.
As a Californian, I would take offense at your statement but since we passed you're bullshit, hateful constitutional revision, I agree that things are pretty crazy out here. So do us all a favor and stay out of our politics and things will become much less crazy much quicker.
Matthew 19:2-4
And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.
I guess Jesus isn't God.
The funny thing about this is that I've heard of lots of married hetero couples getting divorced and having custody battles over any children (natural children, artificial insemination or adoption) involved in the marriage. Another reason not to allow hetero couples to adopt children, or have children by artificial insemination, for that matter. No offense intended to anyone living in the Bible belt, but they're geting crazier by the day

Yeah, guess what? Straight couples do the same fuckin' thing. Hell, I lived through that shit when my parents broke up. So, are you gonna apply your christian logic to straight couples and say that they too should not be allowed to have kids either?
Or are you what we all ready know you are: a hypocrite?
"Let the abuser file for divorce, and your conscience will be clear before God."
Why would the abuser want to file for divorce? Why the cheesly fuck would he want to relinquish power over another human being?
Californoia? Dude, I'm there. I live in dread of those babbling religionists in the malls, on street corners, knocking on my door....
Hey. Let's start driving a prop to force those panhandling bible-mongers back into their closets, or barns.
Jesus said not to divorce, Paul said not to marry, ... hey by not allowing gays to marry, you've made them true followers. Guess you'll be kicking yourself in hell now.
"No offense intended..."
Nice topper to the bullshit, thanks.
1 Actually, God does not okay divorce for adultery, or anything else for that matter.
2 Moses set up that law for divorce
so a MAN decided that what GOD thought didn't matter because it didn't meet realities and hence would diminish that man's influence.
Thank you for explaining how one can use religion to manipulate people and gain power
I've got a few Bibl Verses that says you're wrong! Jesus clearly made an exception for adultery asshat.
AND THE ABUSER WILL NEVER FILE FOR DIVORCE!
Whoever AnnOdom is talking to need, listen to me -- think of yourself and get out if there's abuse.
Confused?
