Why does it seem to be fashionable and cool these days to be an atheist, gay or a satanist?
Why are so many young people at my college turning their back on God and our savior Jesus Christ?
Is it just a fashion statement? Are they rebelling against authority? Why is it so cool these days to be unchristian and so uncool to have faith in our Lord?

Perhaps because, oh, wild stab in the dark here, a huge number of Christians are really, really unfriendly, preachy, interfering busybodies?
Because of gits like you condemning us for having a mind of our own or being of a different sexual persuasion.
Besides, it's not so much considered cool as much as normal.
Imagine that! Young people getting their first taste of independence and freedom while learning to think critically and at the same time being honest with themselves.
Sounds like they're growing up. Too bad this fundie is stuck playing with bride dolls.

No, it's called people growing up and thinking for themselves like rational adult human beings.
They have this nifty thing called a brain. I suggest you follow their lead and use it...

Satanism isn't fashionable! That is so 80's. Its all about being gay now.
Why does it seem to be fashionable and cool these days to be...gay...?
Yes, persecution, and having to live a double life is so trendy... -_-
Speak not of matters you know nothing of.
Been a nerd all my life. Straight and non-Satanic, though; would that make me cool?
I think Bride 'o Jebus has it backward: teenager meets atheists etc. and discovers that, far from being monsters, they're generally quite nice people who accept him/her without a bunch of sanctimonious lectures. Same teenager looks back home at narrow-minded, repressive, vindictive and deadly dull church crowd, and wonders what makes them comparatively so "good."

The clothing is better and you don't have to have multiple faces.
what world are these poeple living in? I consider myself fairly well-informed and observant of cultural trends and pop-culture. NOT ONCE have I come accross something that indidcates it is "fashionable to be...a satanist".
Perhaps I need to apply a crow bar to my cranium and remove it from my nether regions? What am I missing? Where are all the fashionable Satanists?

No, no, because He doesn't exist and I don't believe in things that don't exist.
In fact, I've been an atheist since before I was even in school, so I don't think it could POSSIBLY be a fashion statement.
I am an atheist because that is the only understanding which makes sense to me.
One is not gay because it is or is not fashionable or cool.
I have never actually met anyone who is truly a Satanist. I'm sure there are a few, but I suspect most of Satanism is made up and promoted by jacka** Fundies who wish they had something interesting to talk about.
Atheists aren't rebelling against authority, we simply understand that your imaginary friend isn't an authority.
Sweetheart, you may be old enough, but you are not mature enough to be in college.
What you see now is only a small taste of what the real world is like. Not everyone is bound by the same covenant as you. Learn to accept this and allow yourself to grow as a person. Embrace the differences without judgment, make new friends and experience a little bit of life.
Or stay fundie. I don't give a shit.
Being gay is simply being gay. It's not a fad, not a statement, not being cool. It causes a lot of problems and difficulties to overcome, and it's been one of the moststrengthening things in my life. I've had to deal with shit, and I've dealt with it.
Some, unfortunately find the pressures applied, often by the religious right, too great and crack under the pain and stress that they suffer.
So next time you are thinking about having a go at someone who may be gay, bear in mind you may be taking on a heavy responsibility. Some gays are, sadly, not able to take the strain and do surrender their will to live in what can be a very hostile world. Religion is psychologically undermining.
In the light of this, I couldn't give a tuppeny shit about you, your faith or your self-righteous username.
Maybe people are just harder to dupe these days? It could be evolution plus science has given us a lot of answers that the bible couldn’t. People used to think the sun was a god that could get angry and/or not rise unless they gave it sacrificial offerings. Now, thanks to scientist we understand nuclear fusion and don’t need to live in fear of a sun god anymore. I suspect your god might be going the same way.
Oddly enough, this question hasn't been deleted yet.
And may I say, the Avatar for the person asking the question is hawt. If she's really the "Bride of Jesus", Jesus might just get a wee bit jealous of her being such a prick-tease.
Pretty fundie- but a genuine concern, at least. People shouldn't simply adopt beliefs because it's fashionable.
I should point out, though, that 'gay' isn't a religion, nor is it "turning one's back on God." And last time I checked, being gay wasn't a fashion statement, either.
Essentially, Bride of Jesus seems to be annoyed that her faith seems to be going out of fashion.
Well there is that whole part about the bible being full of shit.
Second the order goes Gay>Fashion, not Fashion->Gay.
Jokes aside being gay isn't a choice, jackhole.
Although I'm sure there are people who would be or say they were something out of the above for attention or rebellion.
Considering authority has practically turned this country into a dump, I guess it's understandable to rebel, idiot.
I don't know how there could be enough of the people to get Bush in the white house
The answerer didn't have a God damn clue what he was talking about, either. And he claims to be an atheist. (Not implying that he's lying, just worded that way for irony's sake.)
"Good comment, Atheist. Nice answers for an atheist."
And therein lies your problem. You can't see past superficial labels.
In the early days of Christianity, people who professed faith in Christ were turned out by their families, subjected to vicious slander by scheming politicians and blamed by their neighbors whenever a natural disaster occurred. During the middle ages one could be killed for having the "wrong" interpretation of Christ's teachings. There are currently places in the world where being a Christian puts one at risk for arrest or lynching. In light of that, your complaints that Christianity is "uncool" really seems like whining about trivialities.
I will let you mull that over before I explain that there are, in fact, gay Christians.
If being an atheist or gay would only be rebelling against authority, there would be very few of them in Sweden. Nobody cares what religion, if any, you have, and fewer and fewer care whether you like guys or girls. As long as you're both happy, good for you.
It has been like this for decades. When I was in my teens during the eighties, people who were Christian were almost pitied; why bother with all those ancient rules and dogmas? It was seen as similar to being in a cult or Jehovah's Witnesses, Scientology, something like that.
Why it's uncool to have faith in our Lord? He never confirms the faith; never calls, never writes, not even an SMS.

Yes. Atheist (and/or being gay) is the new black.
"Are they rebelling against authority?"
Why can't you people just accept that some of us don't believe your religious twaddle?
"Why is it so cool these days to be unchristian and so uncool to have faith in our Lord?"
No evidence.
Confused?
