[Do you people even know what an atheist is? An atheist is someone who doesn't believe in God, simple as that!]
Most atheists are people who not only don't believe in God; they are people who don't like being told what to do, period. They view God as someone who is trying to infringe on their "right" to do whatever they wish - and they figure that, if they dimply "don't believe" that makes their belief true.

No, atheists have morals, if that's what you're trying to imply. And since there is no proof for a god, it's enough of a justification for people to say that since thus far there is none, god does not exist. Most people don't like being told what to do, but in certain circumstances, they do it. The difference though, is that I don't justify my actions through what a superstitious being tells me to do.
Just because you believe doesn't make that belief true!
No. Belief isn't something you can decide on. You're either convinced that there is some sort of deity, or you're not. You can't think, "I'm just not going to believe in god so I can do whatever I want," and make yourself stop believing. That isn't how it works.
Wrong.
We do not, however, like being told what to do by people living in fundieland "because (their particular brand of) god says so" when it goes against our morals and ethics, or is (yet another) attempt to limit the rights and freedoms of others because said la-la-land beliefs claim they should be limited in this way.
Yes, that's right. We have morals. And since we don't compromise them with "oh its ok, all I have to do is ask for forgiveness afterwards" or "god says I should do these horrible things to people so its really actually good!", one might say we're on far higher moral grounds than you... once again despite all your claims to the utter contrary.
*BZZZZT*
"I'm sorry, the correct answer was, 'Yes, I agree.' We do have a copy of the home-game to take with you, and you'll also receive a year's supply of 'Rice-A-Roni', that San Francisco treat. Goodnight everybody, we'll see you next time!"
And it's not so much that I don't like being told what to do, there are limits and rules in the world, that's just fine. But what's NOT going to happen is me kissing the ass and bowing to something that isn't there. I don't follow the rules of someone I can't even see.
Wrong.
I don't mind following rules, but I like to know WHY the rules are they way they are, and I like to feel that they make sense. The Wholly Babble makes no sense at all.
I also don't want to follow rules that were supposedly handed down by an invisible sky daddy who's existence has not been proved.
Nobody wants to be told what to do, specially from somebody who is not particularly attached to them. And by the way, what do Islamic terrorist, Crusaders or The Benjamites do when they do all the atrocities like killing, abducting and raping?, USING GOD TO DO WHATEVER THEY WANT.
Well...I don't like being told what to do, especially when it's by people following stupid, outdated rules in order to belong to a little elitist social club known as religion.
And I never believed in god or in the stories of the Bible because they are just too ridiculous to believe.
they are people who don't like being told what to do, period
I would guess that most people don't like being told what to do. We do it anyway when necessary because we recognize that it is in our long term best survival interest to have a functioning society, or because the rewards of doing what we're told outweigh the costs (employment, etc).
Most theists are people who not only believe in God; they are people who don't like thinking about what to do, period. They view God as someone who provides all of their moral and ethical answers - and they figure that, if they simply "believe" that makes their belief true.
fixed
Fundamentalists don´t like being told what to do either, and nobody, for that matter. And, conversely, fundamentalists use God to justify whatever they do saying, if God says so, it´s true and right.
Ok, people who don't like being told what to do.
Fundy: what are you doing?
Muslim: I'm praying
Fundy: why?
Muslim: because it's part of my religious duty
Fundy: you musn't do that
Muslim: why?
Fundy: because I tell you so. It's a sin and God is sending you to hell.
Five days later
Fundy: Expelled!!!, for being a Christian.
Mainstream Christian: not for that, for harrassment.
Fundy: I was telling him the truth, the Lord asks me to.
Mainstream Christian: he didn't want to convert. He's got as much right to pray as you to be a Christian.
Fundy: now these lukewarm Christian!!, telling people what to do.
“Most atheists are people who not only don't believe in God;”
ANY gods…
“they are people who don't like being told what to do,”
Hmmm. Twenty years enlisted in the military, atheist for all of them? Where do you get your info from?
“period.”
Well, SHOULD i believe in a god just because someone told me to? Gotta figure if St. Peter asks me at the gate, ‘Why were you a believe?’ and i point to a mortal, i’m going to the back of the line.
“They view God as someone who is trying to infringe on their "right" to do whatever they wish”
No… No we do not.
Same way we don’t view Darth Vader as infringing on our rights.
“and they figure that, if they dimply "don't believe" that makes their belief true.”
This really does sound like some of the arguments believers offer and get quoted here. I should believe because he says so. Or because of HIS belief.
And the creationists that dismiss all evidence from science because they insist on believing Genesis.
Confused?
