My wife has been saying the very same thing, and the more I think about all the consequences of divorce, it just makes more sense that gay couples are on the same page as hetero couples when it comes to all the messiness of divorce. I'll give it about 5 years before we start seeing all these stories pop up about how gay couples should have a different set of divorce rules......

You're going to have to fill in a few blanks on that line of reasoning, Sparky.
Gay couples want the same marriage rules as straight couples, therefore they want special treatment for divorce? What was step 2 again?
Also, the lawyers would never let that happen unless it was more expensive, so who would want that?
Why would gay couples want a different set of divorce rules when they aren't asking for a different set of marriage rules. Gay couples are just looking for the same set of rules heterosexuals have for marriage, without the sexual discrimination that allows a man to marry a woman but denies a woman the very same right the man has to marry a woman based solely on her gender.
I am not as much concerned about gay marriage as I am gay divorce. After all, why should gay people be allowed to destroy the sanctity of the 50% divorce rate among straights.
Um, as it stands now, I'd say gay people ALREADY have a different set of divorce rules, and they want to have the same ones. So, no.
Of course they'll want an entirely set of divorce rules.
Just like they want completely different marriage rules. Oh, wait, no they don't. They want the same fucking exact marriage rules as heteros now enjoy, just for, you know, gay people.
Fucking equality, how does it work?
You want them to have separate rules for marriage, so why are you against them having different divorce rules?
The truth is that they will have the same rules for divorce as heterosexuals. The problem is when the first gay couples start getting divorced, all the anti-gay crowd will be pointing to those divorces and saying, "See? All those gay people are getting divorced so we shouldn't have let them get married in the first place" without even mentioning the ~50% divorce rate among heterosexuals.
They aren't asking for a "different set" of marriage rules, jackass. They want the same set of rules as ignorant rubes like yourself.
And we all know that in the realm of conservative christians, equality = persecution.
For The Mods (baphomet, pyro, etc.) sort quotes by numbers. The oldest surviving quote is 1, and the newest quote is the biggest number. If you’re thinking that there is too many quotes for this to work, than you must be silly.
Also, OP gets a 6/10 on the tater scale.
Confused?
