After WWI - which of course featured the invention of You-Know-What [/Judges 1:19] - Britain's government realised that after the vital contribution by women in the munitions factories etc; and Emmeline Pankhurst, the leader of the Women's Suffrage Movement, had been the most vocal in getting men recruited in the forces, that there was no way they could refuse women the vote. Thus it took a war for Pankhurst & her Suffragettes to win theirs.
Debates, voting in Parliament & ultimately legislation in the statute book, resulted in women being given the vote. Nope, not one peep out of your 'Lord' in that time, nor he showing his lazy arse in the House of Commons to argue the toss. Britain has a state religion: the Church of England. Protestant, which uses your 'Christian Bible': the KJV.
Emmeline Pankhurst became an MP in the previously man's world that was Parliament. She wasn't the first, neither.
So either your 'Lord' has changed his mind - and not just in Britain - or all those Iron Chariots invented in WWI, which resulted in women given the vote, scared him off, out of this realm of existence.
