What would you expect ‘evidence for atheism’ to look like?
Curious exactly what you mean by ‘atheism’, too. Do you mean there’s no evidence that I have no belief or do you mean evidence there’re no gods?

I don’t think that follows, logically. Pluto existed before there was scientific evidence for it.

Does there need to be? I’m not an atheist because someone showed me, I dunno, a fossil, or a weather pattern, or anything. It’s the total lack of compelling evidence for any religion that made me atheist.

I don’t think that’s true. The first guy to suggest continental drift was correct, but he didn’t have evidence to support it. So, truth was known.
BUT he went and made observations to support his theory and the rest of the world was forced to accept it.
Truth needs evidence to convince anyone else.
For example, my wife has, i believe, been faithful to me for 37 years. I have been faithful to her for 37 yeas. But we have not been under complete surveillance for that time, so i don’t have evidence to convince anyone else.
