I know one thing for sure. My children WILL have a Bible unit this coming school year on the importance of Bible prophecy, and they WILL have a unit on the Rapture, and they WILL have a unit on the Tribulation. I want them to know the truth.

"This is a situation that has been bothering me for some time. I will lay out the scenario for you, and perhaps I can get some feedback as to how to handle this situation.

I am a homeschooling mother to three beautiful children. My middle daughter is 14 years old, and she has been close friends with another girl her age who is also homeschooled. For the sake of protecting these girls I am going to change their names. I will call my daughter Tracy, and I will call her friend Monica.

Tracy came to me a couple of months ago and told me that Monica said that she was going to live her life how she wanted, and that she didn't have to become a Christian until the Tribulation started. Once the tribulation starts, she has 3 1/2 years to get right with God and start living for Him before Jesus raptures us.

I asked Tracy what she thought about that, and she said, "That doesn't sound right, Mom. We are supposed to live each day as if Jesus were going to come any minute." ( SHE GOT IT!)

I told Tracy that she was absolutely right and that we do not know the hour, the day, nor the minute when Christ will return for us, so we had best do our very best every minute of every day. I told her that we will all mess up from time to time, but that we should "own our own stuff", admit when we were wrong, ask for forgiveness, repent, and try to do better in the future.

I also told her that we are not mid-tribulationists, but rather we are pre-tribulationists. I explained to her the two different points of view and gave her scriptures to show why we believe the way we do.

Recently, her friend Monica AGAIN repeated to Tracy that she doesn't have to worry about living right for God. She can do whatever she wants and she will get right with God when the tribulation begins.

The first time I heard this, I was a bit peeved and thought the girl was just trying to get a rise out of the youth group. She is always saying and doing ridiculous things to get attention, so I thought it was another one of her "shocking" statements made to create a stir.

Now, however, I am more than peeved! I am rather alarmed that this child is still clinging to this viewpoint and has apparently bought into this line of thinking hook, line and sinker.

Worse yet, I am just a bit nervous that the youth director did not step in and question her as to where she would get such an erroneous point of view???

I have always known that the youth director does not like to discuss anything pertaining to Bible prophecy, because he/she claims that know one knows for sure what is going to happen and it is all just a bunch of hype. So, why study it?

What I need now is some advice. I do not know WHAT to do."

prasagora part of it depends on where you live in the US.

From what I understand some states all you have to do is let the school know you're homeschooling, I think there might be a couple where you don't even have to do that. There are no required tests, people to check on what you're doing, nothing. This is what homeschoolers really want, they feel the government has no right to tell them what their children should learn.

I live in a state (North Dakota) where at least one parent has to have a 4 year degree unless they hire another person with a degree to oversee them, they have to either hire a teacher or take their children to the school for assessments each year as well. They can still decide to teach their children creation as science from what I've heard.

My aunt homeschooled in Minnesota and the school was supposed to check up on them but at least one of her children didn't know his alphabet at 10 and couldn't read at the age of 13, I suspect the two younger than him were even worse off. They did require her kids to take assessment tests but they could be done at home with no supervision so she had her older kids who had gone to real schools do all of them.

States the require yearly tests generally use those to determine if the kids need to return to public school so you have to teach your kids something if you want them to be homeschooled next year.

These people are so demented, sometimes reading their posts I almost cry. There should be some way to keep them under control, and prevent them from infecting their children.

If Obama gets in, you that is, every sane person in America, Atheist, Christian or whatever other belief or lack of it they may have should appeal to him to campaign for a federal law stating that every State must examine home- and church-schooled children regularly to make sure they are learning something real. The alternative is too dreadful to contemplate: a society fatally divided between reasonable human beings and uneducated, totally ignorant, deluded fools interested only in death and the destruction of the world.

My fear is that the latter group are growing in number, and that their delusion, which is spreading rapidly over the world, will ultimately lead to the very thing it prophesises.

Please, Jesus, make an appearance and let them know that they believe in nothing but shite, and that nothing they or their pastors say is the truth. Oh shit, you can't, can you?
