[Anwer to: Has Christianity advanced our understanding of the world in any way?]
We don't try to understand what's going on in the world. We just believe. It is faith in God that we live by-not science. They are human just as us, and they try to find answers, but don't have them all. They make up things that make sense to people, but we know the truth because God shows us the truth.

Humanity has regressed due to christianity, by over 1500 years.
When christianity became the official religion of the roman empire, over 200 sects of christianity were disbanded - brutally.
In the compilation of the "bible", over 80 books were deleted as they either didn't suit the agenda of the heirachy, or they just weren't understandable to them.
I do not accept running my life, or the lives of others, on an ancient collection of babylonian fairy tales written by a bunch of semi-literate goat sodomisers.

No, so here's some bullshit about faith as a virtue.
Also, this comment highlights one reason why blind faith should not be considered a virtue. It gets in the way of asking questions and understanding the world around you.
"They make up things that make sense to people, but we know the truth because God shows us the truth."
God told you how to make antibiotics? Well why didn't you share that information with the rest of us, f***tards!
What? God kept that particular truth from you? Well, it's a good job scientists just 'made it up' otherwise you'd probably have died before now.
I'll believe your 'knowledge' is better than science's the day you can live well without the benefits science has brought you. Because I can sure as hell(?) live without the 'benefits' of religion.
"We don't try to understand what's going on in the world."
Unintentional honesty followed by the more usual fundie bullshit.
"They make up things that make sense to people...."
No, that's your gameplan.
Actually, trying to understand the world is EXACTLY how religions are born. Without any science to rely on, cultures will accept any excuse for the water falling out of the sky.
Personally, I favour Norse, because they come up with some really neat stuff, like a giant tree that contains, while at the same time being the entire universe!
All you have is "Goddidit!"
So, do you regularly walk off the edges of tall buildings, because you BELIEVE you can walk on air? Or because of gravity, a scientific discover, you have give it a miss?
Did god show you the truth about the earth being round? Disease is caused by bacteria? Lightning can be stopped by a metal pointy rod? Electricity can light up your house? How to build an internet?
Somehow people who "make up things" did all this but the people with gods truth do shit.
This made me rage.

Christianity has (indirectly) advanced *my* understanding: reading idiotic ideas about evolution spouted by christian fundies has led me to research their misconceptions and understand more about it.
Not, perhaps, very satisfying for them though. Poor dears.
[We don't try to understand what's going on in the world. We just believe.]
That's fine by me. Just don't try to prevent others from understanding. Stay out of the science classroom.
[It is faith in God that we live by-not science.]
Again--that's fine by me. Just don't try to inject religion into scientific debates.
[They are human just as us, and they try to find answers, but don't have them all.]
I can't argue with this statement.
[They make up things that make sense to people, but we know the truth because God shows us the truth.]
Here you're wrong. Scientists don't just "make things up". The scientific method is based on testable, repeatable observations and peer review.
Of course, all of this is beside the point. You haven't addressed the original question.
Right, so belief in God has brought us nothing, because those who believe do nothing. Science brings us all kinds of gifts that your God claims to do. If science is the god of atheists then my god kicks your god's ass.
None of care to share though do you?
Oh, that's right you can't share because it's in you tiny closed minds.
We don't try to understand what's going on in the world.
Your church masters do not want you to understand that they have sucker-fucked you all your life. If you ever realize that, they will have to kill you. So, just believe what they say. Give them your soul, your loyalty, and your money. Especially your money, they like that.
Scientists do try and find answers and yes, they do not have them all. The difference between scientsist (and science minded people) and morons like yourself is that; 1) They admit their just throw their arms up in the air and say 'goddidit'.
Do you have any idea how idiotic your post is?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
