When I was 8 years old, I saw a pigeon poop on a Quran while we were outside doing an Islamic studies class. I showed the book to my grandma, who decided the pigeons were possessed and needed to be executed. So, some men got together and murdered all those pigeons in the name of God. We didn't know which bird actually did the pooping, so they had to kill all of them. So, you know. Just to give you an idea.

Wouldn't it be funny if while all these men were killing pigeons, the one which did the pooping flew away and lived?

Guys, I've read the article and recognized this immediately. It was written by an atheist who lived in Bangladesh for years and is writing about his experience. This particular paragraph was to paint a quick picture of how fundie they were. I'll give the author the benefit of the doubt seeing as he is writing about something that actually happened to him.

I find it interesting that comments here are focusing on the author. The writer of what is being said isn't being flagged as the "Fundie" here, but rather the people who killed the pigeons because one happened to crap on a Quran... hence the attribution to "Some people in Bangladesh" instead of "anonymous Cracked author."
As others have pointed out, the author himself is an atheist blogger who had to flee a fundamentalist country. In other words, the one describing the incident is one of us.

I doubt it's an exaggeration, by the way. Put yourself in the shoes of the people being mentioned. You believe beyond all doubt that God is the supreme sovereign of the universe. You believe that the Quran is the literal word of this God and that disrespect to the Quran is disrespect to God himself. You believe that this is a clear fact to all beings, although, since there is no compulsion in religion, human beings are free to delude themselves into ignoring what they know in their hearts to be true. Animals, on the other hand, lack that freedom -- no bird would WILLINGLY take a crap on the Quran. Hence, it must be possessed by jinn.
It's scary where logic will take you when you embrace absurdity as unquestionable axiom.

As said above, benefice of the doubt to the author, even inclination towards truthfulness.
It may be a poe, but pigs, dogs, and cats were tried and executed in Europe during the Middle Ages for witchcraft and similar crimes. It may well be true.
We are talking about a group of people who are generally willing to kill(or at least harm) other people for their belief, why would killing a bunch of birds, for whatever insane reason, be at all surprising?
I thought this was making fun of the poster's Islamophobia at first, and was happy that there was an atheist fundie here for once. I mean, it's clear that they're making a stereotype about all Muslims, and/or lying.
People, please read before posting. You can question whether this was real or not, but it can't possibly be a poe because it was written by an atheist.
Anyway, since this was his opening to give people an impression just HOW FUNDIE the people are where he used to live, I'd say it probably happened.

Reminds me a little of Stephen 'birdshit' Green. He got pooped on by a seagull during an interview for a Channel 4 documentary and took it as a sign from God to not continue with the interview.
In reality, birds poop everywhere. They don't even see where the poop lands.
No doubt the regressive left is cheering this as an excellent example of animal rights. They did the other pigeons a favor by removing possessed pigeons from the population.
