Some ignorant or arrogant modern humans falsely claim that some ignorant ancient humans somehow had special access to knowledge and that their confused symbolic writings, their compilation of local mythology, should be misconstrued as scientific essays.
Reality is more nuanced: Young Earth Creationism ignores the multiple accounts and their contradictions, makes a modern harmony and interpretation, to come to 6k/7k years by selecting some sparsed metaphores and claiming that they are literal numbers intended as part of a single narrative. Various creationist movements come to different interpretations, thus, Day Age Creationism, Theistic Evolution, etc.
Meanwhile, academic theology studies the texts and their origins in their actual human cultural context. Other sciences like biology, aided by paleontology, geology, chemistry and other consilience, study the natural world and discover overwhelming evidence of our actual origins, allow to date the Earth and civilizations with a certain accuracy, etc.
Yet puppet masters still deceive with creationism to cut their victims from the world and manipulate them. This can also go as far as rejecting education in favor of "home schooling" and systemic political indoctrination... Many are to become unregistered, mostly unpaid workers for tax evading businesses.
