Reason is what gives us common sense, and common sense is what tells us not to step out from the sidewalk into oncoming traffic. Since reason is dangerous to you, go ahead, step out into traffic, moron.

The earliest Christians, after the majority Jews began to disappear, were all Hellenized in some way. Most were outright Greek. Besides the New Testament being written in Greek, most of the early church fathers and theologians were all Greek, wrote in Greek, and were well versed in the sciences and philosophy. They also employed them greatly in their theologies. St. Augustine, for example, wrote a book entitled, "A LITERAL Interpretation of Genesis" and even he considered that the "days" mentioned in chapter one of Genesis could not have been literal days. He seen each "day" as an extended amount of time, I think it was a thousand years each. While he was wrong, he was on the right track, not like todays fundy BS. Almost all early Christians, believed that the stories of creation in Genesis, as well as Noah's flood, were to be understood symbolically, and had no historical value.
