[Discussion of Social Security, the US old age pension system]
I keep thinking that when the Rapture happens, many of us on SS will be taken...so when that occurs--there will be more SS money in the kitty for those left behind. Because once we're gone, our SS checks will quit coming to us.
Since sadly, I'll be leaving behind my brother & SIL, I trust that they will no doubt notify SS about my sudden departure, and have my SS checks stopped.
Have you folks also thought about this possibility too?

One sure thing, you can't take it with you.
If you are sick or incapacitated, I'm sure you will be healed and Jesus will have a nice job lined up for you in Rapturia - or wherever you are raptured to.
Somehow I keep thinking it's a cross between the movies Soylent Green and Logan's Run.
Meh, since every True Christian I've ever met (or even heard of) claims the title exclusively for him/herself and maybe one or two others, the available population of True Christians to be raptured must be so small that no one outside their immediate circle of family, friends, neighbors and co-workers would even notice if they disappeared. And, since only sinners will be left, you can't count on them to alert the Social Security Administration to report any sudden departures (just keep those checks coming).
IOW, the rapture will NOT increase the SS pot for the rest of us, so the best advice is to maintain an effective retirement plan that does not rely on a system that will go bust before most of us are old enough to access it.

Not being a Bible expert, doesnt' the Book of Revelatiojn specify the number who will be saved at 144,000?
So if all the holy and good people throughout time have a claim on this, won't they be very short of places in the Rapturemobile? IOWs, won't an awful lot of these cock-sure people be left behind? So maybe they will need their cheques after all.

Only if you're a literalist. That's one of those things that should probably best be understood in terms of numerology and/or literary device, but if you're a literalist you can't do it that way.
It's like the molten sea/pi=3 thing -- it only presents a difficulty if you're an inerrantist. Everyone else can understand it in its proper context as a very rough estimate.
It's okay, we'll forward them to the mental hospital for you. When the "rapture" comes to take you to "heaven" that is.

I thought Social Security was Godless Socialism and violated God's instruction/curse to Adam that he must live by the sweat of his brow. Rebecca Brown says it lets Satan into your life every time you receive a cheque. Shouldn't that disqualify dole recipients from rapture?
SS usually means a bunch of guys in black uniforms and swastika armbands to me, but that's another story.
