One hell of an impression

During a Greek holiday in 2002, a Polish paleontologist found what he thinks are the oldest human-like footprints in the world. Thus began a vicious fight over a discovery that raises new questions about our evolution.

Footprints discovered of anatomically "modern humans dated at 5.7 million years old. (If you can believe that). What are "modern" human footprints doing in sediment so old, (or is it really that old) This is a fascinating read about these researcher fought disbelief from calcified peers who couldn't believe something that doesn't fit the standard story. These date almost to the supposed common ancestor with chimpanzees! (6 million years ago) Something seems fishy here. How much faith should we put in scientists who scream in the same echo-chamber truth meant to be taken as gospel. My favorite quote is:

“The thing that really troubles me is the sense that we won here only through extreme persistence,” he said. “It really does rather make you wonder what other sort of stories have been buried and have never come out.”
