That true, but none of us try to justify child marriage anymore. None of us would consider someone worthy (or good example to follow) if we found out they were a horrible person. Since that we Americans no longer see child marriage as a good thing, then it's not hypocrical to judge Muslims who still support child marriage. I hope that someday in the future that most Muslims will not stand for child marriage. Also I don't think most parents even a hundred years ago will married their child off to someone more then 2-3 years older then their age.
In fact, that wasn't an age of "consent" because children that young wouldn't understand what it was, they may have been able to be married off really young. Just like Isabelle de Valois, she was married to King Richard II, when she was only 6. That's slightly different as they were royalty. Marriage was a political matter, tied up with treaties and heirs and stuff. So I'm not surprised they would marry that young, though they usually wait till they're teens. I doubt they became sexually active at that age since the goal was to have children and even a Medievel moron knew a 6 year old couldn't produce children.
