A recent article published on Fox News reports that an athiest legal group has demanded that a "God bless our troops..." sign be removed from a Hawaiian Marine base. Am I the only one who's noticed that we haven't won a war since 1945?

Yep, the USA haven't won a war alone since the Civil War (how surprising, really), even though that inscription was on the walls of bases. Not very effective, I would say.
The USA: the only modern western nation that keeps invading third world countries, and loses.
I guess god isn't on your side then.
that depend on the way you define your goals for the wars, or even what you consider to be war.
Korea's war start with the goal of protection of the south. this goal was achieved.
the first gulf's war was supposed to drive Iraq out of Kuwait. also achieved.
in Bosnia, the bombing were supposed to stop the Serbian operations. also achieved.
Interesting how those people who proclaime american exceptionalism are prone to say that USA sucks. Erythrea has won a war(independance), recently, why don't they fly there?
We've got the same in France. France is a "lost country, invaded by muslims & blacks, with no more will to work, corrupt politicians and officials, submitted to the will of Brussels and no more standing army",
Yet, the same people are rejoicing when Pogba(black) passes for Benzema(muslim) to score, are more productive than most their western counterparts, never had to pay a bribe to a cop, have politicians who hide behind Brussels for advancing their real agenda, and have an erection when 2 helicopters bomb 3 cigarette dealers in the Malian desert.
There is a total disconnect between the reality of their feelings(I don't even speak of the reality bar none) and their speech. and it seems you've got the same one sin the USA, with just a few cultural differences(yours don't even know what Brussels is, ours just don't know where it is).
Well, there was the Korean war, the invasion of panama, the cold war, the first gulf war, the second gulf war...
Yep America lost all of those. Big time. As evidenced by the Juche communist Noriega friendly muslim government headed by Saddam Hussein.

Gulf War 1991 ring a bell? That victory was more lopsided than the 1984 presidential election. Besides, I'm sure there was plenty of praying going on during the Korean War and Vietnam War.
I'm guessing you haven't been in the military in the past 30 years or so because it's become heavily infiltrated with evangelical types. I've seen it myself from my service in the Air Force in the early 90's.
Korea was a victory (there is still a South Korea).
Desert Storm and Desert Fox were one-sided asskickings.
Afghanistan was successfully bombed from one end of the country to the other, with the bulk of the major fighting (rather than dealing with pockets of resistance) happening in less than 6 months.
Iraqui Freedom accomplished its objectives, boondoggle aside.
You were saying?
So you figure if you keep up the pestering, God is bound to come through some day?
I think "God damn our bureaucrats" would be more appropriate. When diplomacy fails, "our" troops take it on the chin, and young adults get killed.

No 'God' required. But then, they'd kick his arse, they're that tough.

Royal Marines . Zeebrugge Raid; WWI: 1918 (Five RM VCs won in that raid). D-Day: 1944 . Malayan Emergency: 1948-1960. Falklands: 1982. Gulf War: 1991. Bosnia: 1995. Afghanistan: 2001-2008.
Like I say: No 'God' required.
...or your 'God' doesn't exist, and to win it simply takes marines of the dedicated, disciplined kind. It's a state of mind.
The US didn't win WWII, the Russians did.
@Canadiest: In order to prevent giving the neo-Confederates more delusions, I refuse to consider the Confederacy as part of America for the time it existed.
@Anon-e-moose : Of course modern militaries could defeat God. We've advanced far beyond iron chariots.

No, it's because they have iron chariots.

Is FlyBlownVA(gina) the only one who's not read his Bible: specifically Judges 1:19, thus his 'God' has already lost the Culture War? >:D
