Yeah. Like Miles Gloriosus says, 'cos in monotheistic cultures, when you've only got one God, and it happens to be the God of patriarchal, beardy, wannabe tent commanders, a God whose chief qualities are genocide, prurience, butt-hurt tantrums, deception, mental illness and the love of money, then you got nowhere else to go.
Feel pretty awkward?!? The Christian zealots say that when their messiah comes we'll be hacked up like Thanksgiving turkeys by a wild-eyed god-man who is too consumed by blood lust to recall any of his teachings about love, while legions of his followers watch and cheer. Then we'll be thrown into a lake of fire to burn forever without relief, our only sensations being unspeakable agony and the nagging torment that we brought this on ourselves for not believing everything those nice missionaries told us.

It's nice in a way to see some Jewish fundamentalism on the site. It adds to the variety. Of course, it would be nice if nobody said anything outrageously nuts and FSTDT could be shut down, but variety is a fun second, too.
Why is everyone so eager for the End of days? Are you people really so tired of life, you want out? Why not join up with the military. They have lots of jobs for people eager to leave this world young. Me, I'm having too much fun.
What tells you now is the End of Days? Even if it were, the Talmud says you should attend a Torah lesson rather than rebuild the Temple. Israel is a secular state with no connection to anything messianic. Stop behaving like a fundie Christian.

Given the proportion of Jews who are fundies to all Jews in comparison with Christians who are fundies to all Christians, the proportion of Jews compared to the population of Christians as part of the population of the US, and the proportion of Jews compared to the population of Christians throughout the world, fundie Jews are hugely overrepresented on FSTDT. To take another non-Christian example, Muslim fundies, in the case of all three population groups, by contrast, are vastly underrepresented. Unfortunately, when quotes by Jewish and Muslim fundies are cited on the board, the number of racist comments by posters in response is correspondingly high.
My sister-in-law was raised Catholic and is currently non-religious, my brother and I were raised Jewish with him growing more observant and myself growing less. My nephews are both Jews, and regardless of whatever religious faith or lack thereof they choose to follow when they get old enough to understand what that means they will still be Jews. Meanwhile you, Jason, will still be an asshole.
