So much phony outrage and crocodile tears from the left, as they virtue signal and reflexively play the role of outraged citizen, exactly the way they have been trained.

It's almost like they care about their fellow man.

In what way? It’s the left that’s trying to get stronger gun control so that wannabe shooters can’t get guns and supports the victims and their families. The right, meanwhile, spins conspiracy theories and tries to sell more guns.

Anyone who describes someone with the phrase “virtue signaling” should be, to quote Garfield, drug out into the street and shot.

If you use the word “virtue signaling”, you are a villainy-signaling psychopath and nothing you say is of any value.

And even if they were indeed, as you insinuate and project, just pretending to care in a cynical attempt to look benevolent:

I'm fucking sick of the phrase "virtue signaling." It has become, if it were ever anything else, a verbal cudgel - a blunt, crass weapon- wielded almost exclusively by people with no virtues of their own.

A nut job shot up yet another civic event. At this point, any emotion other than outrage is the luxury of a psychopath, regardless of political orientation.

I do care about my fellow humans. I care about my fellow animals as well (I’d rather catch a bumble bee and let it out into the garden, than kill it).

I don’t even know what the words “virtue signal” means, and I don’t think I want to find out. Sound like something spewed by someone for whom behaving decently towards others is “PC nonsense”.

Why play a role? I feel bad for people in old pictures of lynchings, though I know that both the lynched and the ones doing the lynchings would be dead by now anyway. Seeing the limp hangning bodies, that were living, breathing feeling human beings not long before, makes me queasy. How is that phony outrage, when it happens in private?

History show we do care! There are numerous accounts of people risking their own lives while smuggling other people to safety, during the slavery in the US, during WWII, and right now. Wasn’t President Obama about to put a woman like that on one of the US bills, but the orange buffoon stopped it as he clearly doesn’t care about anyone but himself?

Okay, genius OP! What are YOU going to do to help those nice Garlic Fest folks and the mourning families of those three kids blasted to the hereafter, “Thoughts and prayers”?

Leave it to these dungholes to totally destroy the previously-nice sentiment “Thoughts and prayers”. Everything they touch, they turn to barf.

The Gilroy shooting is the signal to make Assault-Weapons Bans, Gun Regulations and Background Checks 100% National rather than left up to the States. California has a strong system of gun laws but Nevada doesn’t and the shooter got his gun from Nevada.

I also feel that these shootings would also be less frequent if the media kept the perp or perp’s nameless and faceless. Other details….including a very short summary of motive (since people have an emotional need to know ‘Why?’) are fine but mentions of manifestos, the perp’s mug and name should never be mentioned, ever!

THUS; TACKLING THIS NEEDS TO BE A MULTI-PRONGED THING.
* Educate people on what the 2nd Amendment really means and the CONTEXT of it!
* Make a nationwide ban on assault weapons and a nationwide consistent system of regulations and background checks that’s the same no matter what state one is in.
* Beef up the mental health system, better funding for research. Reopen but heavily regulate and fund the mental hospitals and beef up the Assisted Living systems. Teach coping skills everywhere.
* End the culture of Toxic Masculinity and re-frame talking things out, seeking help, seeing a shrink or counselor, crying, being non-violent, etc. as examples of truly NOBLE AND MANLY THINGS!
* Boycott the NRA and boycott those who support the NRA and tell the Far-Right to go screw itself with a hot poker!

Besides; Jim-Bob can ward off a home-invasion (or whatever his fantasyland mind tells him) just fine with a simple pistol or shotgun.

Also; No amount of assault-weapons-wielding wingnuts is going to be able to overthrow one of the most gigantic, well-funded, high-powered militaries on Earth today.

….Never mind that the REAL Rambo of the first movie was a traumatized vet who needed help and that First Blood was actually an anti-War drama about PTSD and the ill-treatment Vietnam veterans often got from ignorant fols when they came home….that just had some action stuff tossed in.
* I personally see the other Rambo films as non-cannon fan-fiction written by buffoons who missed the point of the first film. Who's to say the outrage is phony? Three kids got killed. Who wouldn't be outraged? (Well, in my case it was "Not again, America. What is wrong with you?") This moron seems to believe everyone else secretly thinks like him.

Remember in 2019 if you care about people being killed you are "virture signaling" and that's bad.

What was your reaction to the Garlic Festival shooting and all the other 195? Cheering on the gunman? Regretting that more weren’t killed?

More importantly, what will your reaction be if a member of your family is one of the victims in the next mass shooting?

Basically "virtue signalling" is performing an act of goodness for the purpose of looking good to others and gaining approval rather than out of principle. The people who use that term don't understand the ability to care about an issue unless it has some direct personal impact or the desire to stand on equal footing rather than being driven to seek advantage or outright dominance which runs into the slight logical problem that the people being "signaled" at would have no reason to be impressed by these acts if everyone were as inherently self-serving as this premise assumes.
