Why would you be proud of that, because that's what led to the massive underdevelopment of the South for the longest of time. Not to mention helped weaken the US as a whole because the North wasn't using Southern cotton in its factories.

Not since the mid-1700s at the latest, I'm guessing. Not to mention slavery was illegal in almost every Northern state at the time of the Civil War.

But far more fought for the North, where some of them were murdered by Nathan Bedford Forrest's soldiers at Fort Pillow. And if South wasn't racist, why did they wait until the last months of the war to even try recruiting their slaves to fight for them, like Brazil did in the same era?

I've never heard that one. Lincoln just fought the Civil War to keep the country together. The South made it about slavery.

Not necessarily hateful, because the Confederate flag (not the real Confederate flag, of course, because no one ever flies that) is only racist depending on the context. But stupid and petty for freaking out over a symbol of defeated traitors, which has no place flying at a government building like in South Carolina.
There are many things that offend many people but they don't go for the temper tantrum crybaby mode.
Which is exactly what a certain group of southerners did the moment anyone started criticising their flag. You'd think Obama passed an executive order banning the flag nationwide from the response the criticism got.
