Marriage is something that stems from religion and therefore Gays, bis, lesbians and transgenders don't have the right to partake in it, even if they have always been part of the religious community and love god as much as anything else.

Even if marriage was solely derived from your god, and it wasn't, that doesn't effect the fact that it's a purely government controlled thing now.
You don't have to recognize it as being a "real marriage", but there's no reason the government should forbid GLBT individuals from marrying in their eyes.
Is it that hard to fill out the three extra fields that accompany a quote when submitting it here?
The quote was by 'HopelessQuixotic' and the 'board' is deviantART. dA does not allow anonymous comments.
On gay marriage:
Normal person: "Yawn... just let the have it... really, what is all the fuss about?"
Fundie: "BAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!"
All in all? Nothing new... same ol' bigotry, same ol'...
Marriage was *never* a religious construct. A socio-political construct, sure, but never religious -- not 'til you Fundie-types decided you wanted to deny certain people the right to form a family on terms other than your own. Please go die, painfully.
Civil rights is something that stems from the constitution and therefore fundies, christians and those with a personal relationship with Jesus don't have them, even if they have always been part of the American community and love apple pie as much as anything else.
Fixed.
Let me see if I understand this.
1. Marriage is a religious ceremony.
2. People who are GBLT may be religious.
3. Therefore GBLT may not participate in marriage.
Yeah... that sure makes a lot of sense.

I agree with you 100% I also think it has to do with the view that sex isn't something to be enjoyed but only to reproduce (More people for the master to dominate.)
Irregardless, the idea of marriage predates the Abrahamic religions and has never in any way been exclusive to them, No matter how much they might wish it to be so.
Marriage may come from religious rites, but it no longer is one, and, thus, there is no reason why they should be forbidden from obtaining one.
Marriage is something that stems from religion
Except that it isn't. In fact, it stems from property/inheritance rights.
You, however, are something that stems from douchebaggery.
Marriage, like, well, everything else including your god, is a convention of man.
@Osiris: Why, of course, as long as he/she is straight and he/she kills people for Jesus! Not like those sane, law-abiding homosexuals who just want the same rights that everybody else takes for granted. Seriously, that kind of thinking is messed up.
Baby Moses in the River Styx. If I've said this once, I'll say it a thousand times: JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING STEMMED FROM RELIGION DOESN'T MEAN YOU GET TO GOVERN IT AS THOUGH IT STILL BELONGED TO IT WHEN IT DOESN'T.
Reminds me of people who use "You say 'bless you' when people sneeze!!" as an argument that we SECRETLYLOVEJESUSOMG.
“Marriage is something that stems from religion”
It stems from property. From ensuring a dynastic ownership of property, and the formal transfer of it between generations.
Since ancient kings tended to claim a divine right to rule, their marriages were draped in religious tones.
“and therefore Gays, bis, lesbians and transgenders don't have the right to partake in it,”
Even if true, it’s been codified as a secular institution. It’s a legal partnership with specific legal precedents, limitations, and privileges. Gods need not apply.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
