Oh, I've heard of them... and it's interesting to note that you use an example of what happened due to someone trying to force a religious group to convert to a different religion... and the subsequent rebellion.
That only helps prove my point that the persecution ISN'T simply because they are Jews, but because certain people/groups want to have everyone dancing to their tune.

The sacking of Jerusalem? That was in direct response to the Jews revolting against Roman rule... again, not simply because they were Jews.

Semites are NOT white. Caucasoid does not = white.

While many Askhenazim have European ancestry, they still have distinct Jewish features, though many of them could be mistaken for (really ugly) whites, I guess. Regardless, none of them is purely European except for converts.

Clearly there must be something wrong in a people that is persecuted for millenias - almost everywhere they reside.

There are skinheads who are anti racist. The original skinhead movement was an appreciation of musical genres such as ska and punk which are both heavily influenced by west indian music.

While it would be persecution by our standards and similar campaigns are considered extremely counterproductive by modern militaries, it was simply what the Romans did in response to that sort of uprising and could only be said to be persecuting people whose neighbours were seditious (the campaign was like the Battle of Fallujah (the one in response to the Blackwater lynching), where the commanders on the ground acted under protest and had drawn up their own 'police action'-type plans).

However, you are right about one thing: A shared worldview (any vision for a better world is necessarily a worldview) is a very powerful force, without which, to paraphrase Chief Plenty Coups, nothing happens, and what does happen ceases to mean anything.
