This is all a lie. Humans started walking upright about 6000 years ago, when God made 'em from dirt. There is no compatibility whatsoever between random, purposeless, Godless evolution and Christianity or Judaism. Any divine oversight or guidance means that natural evolution never occurred. Science is full of frauds, hoaxes, misinterpreted evidence, circular logic, and fanciful flights of imagination, and has never proved that any species evolved from any other species. There are no missing links in the fossil record. The Bible has never ever been proven wrong on anything.

I don't see why not. There are plenty of theists out there who believe that Evolution was God's way of creating life.

And if it was guided, then it must have been by an incompetent and cruel deity (because of the various life-threatening problems ingrained in the Human body and the various viruses and animals that must kill other things in horrible ways to survive)

Once again, proof? And really, how shiny is your mirror exactly? The Christian Church is built on misrepresented evidence, frauds, circular logic and fanciful flights of imagination. I'm sure you would be quick to denounce opposing versions of Christianity as such.

JSS beat me to the punch with the same image I was planing to post. So I'll just do my standard rebuttal:

Any proof of, aside from the Bible:

1) Humans were made from dirt.
2) That it was 6,000 years ago.
3) That it was the Judaeo-Christian God of the Bible who, rather than some other deity or a natural process.

Until all one of these three is meet, you have no evidence for your argument. And until all three are meet, your argument fails.

I've meet plenty of Christians, and Jews who believe that God directed evolution along. I disagree with the God part but at least they don't ignore the evidence.

Yes there have been frauds and hoaxes but they always get found out eventually. The fact that the Theory of Evolution stands very similar to what Darwin wrote in the 19th century shows how strong it is.

Well there is a gap in some places but that is correct, the fossil record is very extensive. But those that have been found are not called missing links because they are no longer missing.

Cool, now just publish the research that led you to that conclusion (no, the Bible doesn't count as that would be circular reasoning and you said you were against that). The men in Sweden will have a nice, shiny medal ready for you. However, I'm pretty sure they're not holding their breath.

It's not "full of them" by any stretch of the imagination. Sure, there were hoaxes, frauds, and misinterpretations, but guess who caught them. It wasn't creationist, it was other scientists using science. Science is self-correcting.

Actually, it's more like a spiral that starts at the least number of assumptions and then builds on accumulated knowledge. If our knowledge was gained through circular reasoning we'd never progress and we'd be exactly where we were when we began applying the scientific method.

Well, when brainstorming hypotheses sometimes that's required and Einstein was quite famous for his imagination being used for thought experiments. However, a good scientist doesn't claim that his/her imagined scenarios are true until there is solid evidence to back it up. Einstein didn't publish the Theory of Relativity until he made calculations to show that it worked including the famous calculation of the perihelion precession of Mercury which yielded incredibly accurate results. All the imagination in the world is useless to science if there's nothing to back your assertions up.

May I introduce Laetoli, a site in Tanzania made famous be the discovery of a fabulous sequence of footprints, preserved in the volcanic ash of an eruption that occured 3.5 million years ago.

The tracks show three individuals with homonid like feet walking together and upright. One individual, who made the smallest prints and was probably a juvenile, is deliberately walking in the prints of another despite the disparity in their strides. Another individual, whose foot size is mid-way between the others, is carrying a heavy burden on one hip, as evidenced by differences between the left and right print distinctive of increased pressure.

So we have two adults walking together across the landscape with at least one child, and perhaps another being carried, probably they were a family unit, certainly the child was at ease enough to play at jumping from print to print as children often still do today.

The Laetoli prints are one of my all time favourite palaeontological discoveries, considering there is not one bone or tooth to be seen, they convey an incredible amount of valuable and even poignant information. Even better, they were discovered by accident when two scientists on a dig started throwing elephant dung at each other for a laugh.

That one of the earliest records of upright locomotion should be discovered by two modern humans engaging in the even older human behavious of shit-flinging has a certain satisfying symmetry to it.

I love you. I never thought about it that way, but now I do. If I were God, I'd think this algorithmic movie was absolutely AWESOME, and I totally WOULD watch it forever.

If there is/are some sort of deity/deities out there, I can now totally picture them being like, "I'm bored... Hey! Let's create an algorithmic movie that we will then watch forever!!"

Yeah, it actually does. That's really cool, dude! Wow, thinking about those proto-humans walking there millions of years ago...that feels really awesome. Almost spiritual. *contented sigh* I love science... I love knowledge... I love progress...

Another thing that really makes me think of how vast space and time are is that those proto-humans would have had absolutely no idea that their footprints would still be there 3.5 million years later. If they'd had any inkling that evidence of their existence would be observed that far into the future, I wonder how they would feel...? I think I would feel...really amazing. Like when you look up at the night sky, at all the stars, and wonder if we're alone in the universe. I think I would have felt something like that.
