Well, one thing to take into consideration is abortion. I have talked to several people who said that they would have considered adoption over abortion IF they wouldn't have had to worry about the adoption agency placing the child with a gay couple instead of a decent, normal family. There are a growing group of people out there who will not rule out abortion until gay adoption is stopped. So, in that sense, more babies could be saved by outlawing gay adoption.

After perusing many anti-abortion/gay/bi/trans/this/that opinions and whatnot, I have come to the conclusion that it's less about 'saving the children' and more about imposing one set of people's version of morality on everyone else, in the secure knowledge that success in imposing means a lot of political, social, hierarchical, financial and manipulative power for the imposer(s). It stinks like a wet kipper on a hot day.

Also, the obvious answer to this is that whole private adoption thing, where you pick the parents your damn self. Meaning anyone claiming they didn't do it out of fear of the baby going to some undesirables didn't even open a phone book before deciding what to do.
And they aborted long before gays could adopt. Moreover, before that, they just said that they didn't trust WHO could adopt their child, which included alcoholics, junkies, abusive parents..................no gays whatsoever.
