“I understand that they feel like that is their body,” he said of women. “I feel like it is a separate … what I call them is, is you’re a ‘host.’ And you know when you enter into a relationship you’re going to be that host and so, you know, if you pre-know that then take all precautions and don’t get pregnant,” he explained. “So that’s where I’m at. I’m like, hey, your body is your body and be responsible with it. But after you’re irresponsible then don’t claim, well, I can just go and do this with another body, when you’re the host and you invited that in.”

@Scratch: well, he'd not be technically wrong about that. except, when you've got a parasitic infection, nobody cares if you decide to have it removed.
The problem is that you're calling abortion irresponsible - and sometimes it isn't. There's rape. There's condom failure. Theres a mistake in "counting the days of the month". There's immaturity, in which someone thinks she wants a baby without having thought it through. There are people who would welcome a child, and then her husband/partner loses his job, loses his money, and loses interest in her. There's a wanted pregnancy with which something goes terribly wrong. There's a wanted pregnancy that turns out to be something that is very dangerous for the woman.
You can't tell what the circumstances of any given woman are. And her congressman can't tell either. The person who knows the circumstances is the person that must be able to decide. Not me, not you.
"I understand that they feel like that is their body," he said of women.
Not "feel," Justin. Not even "believe," or "think." They know because it is . Know, Justin. ... and that's the difference between a self-aware human being and one who has been indoctrinated into shit-headed thinking like yours.
@Scratch: Or demons.
I wonder if this person also believes you can shoot someone who comes into your home uninvited. Because while I don't believe that a fetus is a person, I'm just saying, if a woman wants an abortion, it means she DIDN'T invite anything in. Doesn't that kind of make it an intruder? :P
The lesson here: If you get a tapeworm, keep it; you're the "host."
The dehumanising language is just a bonus.
@ Kanna
Condom failure and mistakes in "counting the days of the month" wouldn't exist if the woman hadn't been irresponsible with her body by having SEX. Remember, abstinence is 100% effective! Ner ner! As for financial problems, that means they're just another pair of losers on the government teat and their opinion means nothing. Pregnancy with which something goes terribly wrong? Well, every child is a gift from GOD. Pregnancy that turns out to be something that is very dangerous for the woman? That's no reason to SLAUGHTER!! AN INNOCENT CHILD!!!!
I hate the 'pro-life' movement with a white-hot passion.
@ Citizen Justin:
I'm just edging the Abyss when I say this, and I know it, but there are some people who deserve "chest busters" - such as this idiot, who knows women "feel" our bodies actually belong to us but he knows so much better.
I wish upon him - and I might end up spending time in Gehenna for this when I die - an absolutely terrible parasitic infection. Not deadly. Also treatable (with time, suppositories, enemas, and so on). I'm good like that. But painful, gross, and humiliating? Hell yes. I hope every last anti-abortion proponent (who fails to act as if they're really pro-life) gets...fuck...I dunno..what's a really bad parasite, complete with explosive diarrhoea and projectile vomiting?
I don't merely "feel" as if this body belongs to me. It does belong to me...and it doesn't ever seem to occur to these idiots that every coin had its flip-side - such as that women in another place may "feel" their bodies belong to them but are forced to have abortions by the Chinese government anyway.
He's stupid. He's foolish. They elected him. They deserve him. I hope they learn from him and elect someone who isn't a drooling idiot. Given their track record, however...
Cholera? Nah; I don't want them to spread it to the innocent, or even to die from the condition themselves.
In fact, it would be good for them to recover fully (and perhaps they'll have learned something by it).
Well, I guess a good, old fashioned helminth infection from undercooked meat would do the trick. They're not contagious or lethal. Not the most creative though, maybe.
Since you want women to "take all precautions and don't get pregnant" I assume you're in favor of providing easy and cheap (or free) access to contraceptives, right? Perhaps through providers such as Planned Parenthood?
Yeah, I didn't think so. Hypocrite.
It's official. Republicans don't think women are humans with rights, but just walking fetus incubators.
For more evidence of this, see the state of Wyoming, where the Republican lawmakers have handed off bills on abortion to... the Department of Agriculture . Seriously.
They got mad when it was suggested they're equating women to cattle, though.
Oh my god. DarkPhoenix, that is legit?
As far as I know, yes.
The "Alien" films are not documentaries.
But if you want to be impregnated by a Xenomorph, I'm sure Neill Blomkamp will make an exception: in both instances. [/"Alien V"]
I'm sure you realise what the underlying - and psychologically unimaginable for a certain gender - theme of these films are, don't you? Otherwise, thank you for proving what I've said all along: if men became pregnant, there would be abortion facilities in all DIY stores.
Confused?
