[After a new member introduced himself to the forum, and stated he was gay, and a Christian.]

Isn't that like saying I'm a thief....but I'm a christian ? or I'm a liar...but I'm a christian, or I do witchcraft...but I'm a christian. Before you say I'm judging you. I am not ,but can you picture yourself standing before The Most High and saying you honestly thought it was ok for a man to put his penis in another man's anus, which is what homosexuality is.

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination......
And before you call me homophobic I am not scared of homosexuals.
And don't try and tell me that homophobic means someone who dislikes homosexuals, I don't do double-speak. If i was agoraphobic i'd be scared of open spaces, if i suffered from arachnophobia, i'd be scared of spiders, so how does adding the same suffix to homo have a different meaning all of a sudden.My beliefs about homsexuality are not 'irrational' they are based on scripture.

Sure he is - he just equated being gay with being a thief or a liar. Deut. 22:22 says "If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, [both] the man that lay with the woman, and the woman ... " If you accept that passage, then a third of the Christians in the world need to be put to death. Sure fundies are homophobic. Otherwise, they wouldn't be so obsessed with homosexuality, as opposed to all the other things the Bible equally condemns. Besides, since when is the Bible the last word on moral justice? There's Deut. 22:23 "If a damsel [that is] a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; 22:24 Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die ...". So the Bible calls for executing a woman if she gets raped in the city. How many people would honestly accept that as just and fair? And before you call me homophobic I am not scared of homosexuals. Many people, including gays themselves, admit that "homophobic" is not the best word to describe people who are anti-gay, since it technically means "afraid of sameness" or even "afraid of humans". But the accepted definition of an English word doesn't change just because it doesn't "reverse-engineer" back to the same meaning in Greek.

Well, as long as we're following old testament law...

It is to remain a ruin forever, never to be rebuilt." So stop with your picking and chosing of which bits of the old testament you're following. God seems like an all-or-nothing kind of person to you fundies.

Not only are you guilty of committing the No True Scotsman fallacy, you also committed a straw man fallacy, by comparing the love for the same sex with stealing another man's property or telling lies. It can also mean hatred, hostility, or disapproval of homosexual people, sexual behavior, or cultures, and is generally used to assert bigotry." Fundies always hate something they're afraid of, or that they perceive as a threat. My beliefs about homsexuality are not 'irrational' they are based on scripture. They're based on your particular fundie interpretation of Bronze Age mythology, rather than on scientific discipline I'll be praying for you. Translation: I pray that God will punish anyone who disagrees with me or deviates from my conduct of life.

Translation: I hate you because your life is slightly different to mine and that makes me uncomfortable. I also want to brutally murder you for your disgusting sexual proclivities, as evidenced by the fact that I quoted Leviticus 20:13 which commands the death penalty for dirty faggots. But, since I've got a rubber spine, I didn't actually include the bit about killing gays. That would just be rude.
So instead I'm going to feign politeness for the sake of my reputation as a True Christian, and only judge you if I add a little disclaimer which says "I'm not actually judging you here - it's called helping, faggot". I'm also going to pre-empt any accusations of homophobia, since the etymology of the word implies a fear of gays. But this is just to cover the fact that I'm awfully afraid of you, since my pastor directed me to parts of the Bible which told me you were vile and sinful. And I know that the Bible is the absolute, unequivocal truth since it says right there in the Bible that the Bible is true. So there. In conclusion, I hate you and wish you would die under the weight of a gigantic boulder, rolled down a long steep hill by Jesus, the bastion of love and acceptance.
