Evolutionary theory is an attempt to explain the diversity of life, nothing more. It is not and was never intended to "convince" anybody that they are a beast. If that's what think it is they you are mistaken, you either don't know anything about evolution outside of fundie propaganda, or you approached it with preconceptions and discard the parts of the theory that didn't fit your preconceptions, either way you are wrong.
