The only reason Muslims have constitutional rights is because they weren't exposed back then for what they truly are. Had the founding fathers dealt with the scum were eradicating in Iraq and Afghanistan, there would have been a hunting season for them, not rights protecting a religion as cowardly barbaric as this one is. You aren't fooling me even if you are fooling others. I see them for what they are. Targets.

Topix is beginning to get in the running with Free Conservatives and Free Republic for right-wing blowhards with huge amounts of prejudice and ignorance and absolutely no knowledge of American history(but that doesn't stop them from making fools of themselves by showing their ignorance anyway). Hey boobsie, you not only know absolutely nothing about the founding fathers' or the US Constitution, you know jackshit about 18th and early 19th century world history. Go to an encyclopedia or even Google. Type in "Barbary Pirates", or "early American naval history", or Jefferson, or Madison, or Monroe. Our founding fathers' knew a hell of a lot more about Muslims(and apparently FREEDOM) than you do.

Not exactly knocking 'em dead with your command of American history, are you, Bobby? Two words: Barbary pirates.

Dumbass.
not rights protecting a religion as cowardly barbaric as this one is.
Obviously, you've never read the christian bible.
And muslims were not a threat during the days of the founding fathers. Christians were usally the more violent ones.
1. Treaty of Tripoli, bitch.
2. "a religion as cowardly barbaric as this one is. " ...says the peaceful Christian advocating murdering other human beings because they happen to practice a different religion.
No, the reason they have constitutional rights is that they are American citizens, which, to my dismay is the same reason you do. I see them as human.
Shiny, shiny, bad times behind me,
Shiny, shiny, sha-na-na-na
And incidentally, this is one of the stupidest arguments ever brought up. He's admitting, "Yeah, the Founding Fathers were tolerant of Muslims. However, if they met the Muslims we're dealing with today, they would have hated them as much as I do!"
Is there a name for this kind of fallacy?
Wrong. 250 years before the founding of the USA, the Protestant reformers were talking the same kind of trash about muslims that fundy christians do today. There's no difference. The founding fathers of our country were well aware of Islam and what it represents. Most would have been well versed in at least the writtings of Martin Luther and John Calvin, who had nothing but hatful things to say about muslims. The reason the founding fathers didn't leave muslims out of the constitutional rights? One of two reasons: 1. they really meant religious freedom for all, no matter what religion you are, if any at all, or 2. they realized that christianity was just as barbaric, and decided it would be hypocritical to single out islam.
I don't judge Christians for what the numerous Christian criminals throughout history have done, I don't think we should judge Muslims for people abusing their religion either.
Xenophobia will not get us anywhere.
a religion as cowardly barbaric as this one is.
Let's see:
A small group of wingnut fundie Muslims flies planes into buildings, killing thousands of civilians. Yes, that's bad.
In response, mainstream Christians bomb the fuck out of a couple of Muslim-majority countries, generally from a safe distance, killing hundreds of thousands of civilians.
Mainstream Christians aren't really doing much to make their religion look good these days. And while flying planes into buildings is some seriously evil shit, I'm not sure how someone who prefers to do their mass slaughter from a distance is in a position to be talking about cowardice.
Um... have you ever heard of the 1769 Treaty of Tripoli? Here's an excerpt:
"Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries."
"MUSLIMS BAD!"
Yes, but WHY are the muslims bad?
"WE WAR WITH MUSLIMS! MUST BE BAD!"
So a percentage of violent religious extremists who make up the billion people of the Islamic populatin speak for all of them?
"MUSLIMS BAAAAAAD!!!!"
Yeah! And if they'd only known about Oklahoma City they'd have stripped adult white males of their rights!
Wait, that'd be disadvantageous to themselves. Ok, say the white males in question had to detest federal government so much they were willing to provoke a war--
Wait. Still no.
Yeah, I guess we'd better just take everyone as an individual instead of persecuting them for their race, color or creed.
You stupid asshole. You have no idea what America is supposed to be.
WE - ARE.
It is not that fucking difficult.
Targets uh? I like to see how they say that love your neighbour only extends to your friends... If Jesus knew the kind of fucktards we have to deal with today...
He would have probably given up.
Because at the time they were too busy passing out smallpox infected blankets to the Native Americans.
Wait, who were "cowardly barbaric" ones again?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
