A divorced Jacksonville woman said her former church has threatened to "go public with her sins" and tell the congregation about her sexual relationship with her new boyfriend.

Rebecca Hancock said harassment from Grace Community Church in Mandarin over her sex life caused her to leave, but she said that didn't put an end to the problem. She said she received a letter from the church's elders telling her the church plans to make her personal life very public.

"I'm basically run out. I'm the church harlot," Hancock said.

The 49-year-old said she has been dating a man for a while and she said members of the congregation at Grace Community Church haven't been happy about the relationship.

"Because I have a boyfriend that I'm involved with — to not be married to that person is a sin," Hancock said.

She said the issue caused her to leave the church. However, she said the church has not let go of her.

The letter Hancock received from the church states that because she has refused to end her sexual relationship with her boyfriend, "you leave us with no other choice but to carry out the commands of the Lord Jesus Christ" — "In accordance with Matthew 18:17 we intend to 'tell it to the church.'"

I am going to pick on the black community a little and not all blacks fit this scenario, but a large majority do. We have all types of nationality people that come here daily to live the American dream and some I know came here w/the shirts on their back literally and thru hard work and dedication and often times sharing a home and putting each others children thru college they are now living the American dream. Some of these people used entitlements as a bridge to a better tomorrow. The Romney's are a great example of using entitlements for what they were designed for. However, the blacks have cried disenfranchisement, discrimination, racism and you name it for years. The Government has cuddled and stroked their whims, affording them in many cases more opportunity than their fellow races of people. However, their plight never stops. Their needs are never fulfilled and it appears the American people owe them something. We owe you nothing! For many years you have enjoyed the same advantages and opportunities as everyone else has. In some cases you have enjoyed more advantages under the minority status. Again, I owe you nothing. When you have a black President and you are demanding that flags be removed, murals be taken down, national monuments be destroyed and gravesites be uprooted then you are no longer part of the minority, but rather a well seasoned, operational part of the majority. Who gives you or anyone the right to touch that which a large segment hold sacred. To tread on the dust of my ancestry. My Great, Great Grandfather was one of those Confederate Soldiers and although I never knew him I respect his fight for what he thought at the time was right. We have bent over backward to move forward, but black America by ignorance is moving us backward.

[Regarding a comment "jesus is dead and remains dead. jesus is not god."]

The second proposition in that quote "Jesus is not God", interestingly, affirms God's existence.

Were I to say Eddie is not a tea kettle I affirm the reality of tea kettles. If that reality were not at least implicitly affirmed, the proposition would be a pointless absurdity.

What sense would it make to say Eddie is not X, when X represents something that isn't? Therefore, when you say Jesus is not God, you affirm God's being by saying he (God) is something that Jesus is not.

Why would you, or any rational person say Jesus is not something that isn't?

[From the comments on the story of the woman whose church is threatening to go public with her sins.]

As a Sothern Baptist pastor, I want to say that a common misconception is... I think represented from the comment above... is that if you are unrepentant and about to be disciplined by your church that you can just leave tell the leadership that you are withdrawing your membership. There is nothing in the Scripture that supports such a notion. In fact, while I would acknowledge that a person can leave any church for any reason; this does not nullify the churches responsibility to go forward with their actions. One of the purposes of church discipline is to SHAME the person who is in sin.
